A
Somalian man was detained yesterday at the Immigration Tower in Wan Chai Hong Kong
SAR by anti-terrorism squad officers holding shields after the suspect — who was also
carrying a long knife —claimed he was looking for his wife due to previous arguments between
the two.When
the 28-year-old Somalian man was told to queue by security guards at the
Immigration Tower yesterday at approximately 11.53 am, the guy allegedly pulled a long
knife out of his backpack and threatened the employees before the security
guards phoned the police.The
dude was taken down right away. According to the police, no one was hurt in the
event, and there was no evacuation. The
knife is 29 centimeters long and was wrapped in a plastic bag.It
is understood that the suspect earlier quarreled with his wife regarding money
and relationship issues.He
went to the Immigration Tower to look for her and requested to meet with an
immigration officer after learning that she would be there to renew her
identity card.Upon
arriving on the second floor to ask for an immigration officer, the suspect
refused to queue and security requested him to abide by the rules. Both of them
started arguing.After
aggressively threatening the Nepalese security officer and allegedly flashing
the knife in his sling bag to terrify him, employees called the police right
away.Officers
from the Counter Terrorism Response Unit and the Emergency Unit were among the
first to reach the area.
