In a heartbreaking turn of events, Luo Damei, a prominent online influencer hailing from Henan Province, renowned for his captivating cross-dressing performances, fell victim to a harrowing series of events. Deceived by acquaintances he trusted, Luo was lured to Nanzhao County, where he was forcibly abducted, extorted, and ultimately discovered lifeless, hidden from view.Luo's online presence was nothing short of astounding, boasting an impressive 1.224 million followers and a staggering 18.96 million likes on Douyin, China's equivalent to TikTok. Beginning his online journey in February 2020, Luo shared a total of 403 short videos, showcasing his remarkable expertise in makeup and skincare.Most of his content featured mesmerizing cross-dressing performances and makeup tutorials, occasionally highlighting his charitable endeavors. Tragically, his final video was posted on July 23.During early July, Luo sent a cryptic message to his family, explaining his need to attend to personal matters and urging them not to seek contact. As reported by BJNews.com, he subsequently vanished, leaving his family deeply concerned. By the end of August, their worries were confirmed when they received the devastating news of his tragic demise.The individuals responsible for this heart-wrenching incident were reportedly known to Luo, having cunningly lured him to Nanzhao County. They then proceeded to abduct him, extracting a substantial ransom of 2 million yuan (equivalent to US$310,000), and ultimately, ending his life. Luo's lifeless body was concealed within a sweet potato cellar.According to reports by Cqcb.com, three suspects have been detained in connection to this case. Following Luo's abduction, they drained approximately 2 million yuan from his bank account, sealing their involvement in this sinister plot.A message attributed to Luo's sister, shared on social media, painted a poignant picture of her brother – a humble and kind-hearted individual deeply devoted to his craft and firmly rooted in his principles. He was an active contributor to society, notably involved in disaster relief efforts, underscoring his unwavering commitment to making a difference.
