France has announced a new 5-year visa policy for Chinese citizens who hold master's degrees obtained in French or Chinese universities. The policy applies to students who have spent at least one semester of their studies in France.
It aims to promote the mobility of citizens from both countries following China's announcement to trial visa-free entry by French tourists in the country.
The policy is also meant to encourage more Chinese students to choose France as their preferred destination for their studies.
With visa exemptions and facilitated entry-exit policies, France and China are paving the way to strengthen cultural, economic, and educational exchanges.
The policies highlight the significance of bilateral relations between the countries and provide exciting opportunities for tourists and students.
French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna, made the announcement during a joint press conference with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing.
Ms. Colonna thanked Wang for the decision taken by China to exempt French tourists who wish to visit the country for stays of less than 15 days from visas.
“It is a great gesture and a decision which will greatly contribute to increasing cross-mobility and our people-to-people exchanges,” she said.
