Abstract
This seminar presents the research activities of the Radio and Sensor Engineering Group in the Centre for Wireless and Intelligent Systems Engineering (WISE) at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. The group has been active in the research and development of radio frequency (RF) structures, with a focus on antennas and metasurfaces operating from microwave to terahertz frequencies for a wide range of applications. It provides an overview of selected works, including RF structures for object, human, and environment sensing; for enhancing the wireless communications; as well as wireless power transfer and energy harvesting.
Boon-Chong Seet received his PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He then joined the National University of Singapore as a research fellow under the Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) programme. Since 2007, he has been with Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand, where he is currently a full professor and heads the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department. He is also the chair of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) New Zealand North Chapter, and deputy director of the Centre for Wireless and Intelligent Systems Engineering (WISE) at AUT. His research activities span the fields of info-communication technologies (ICT), focusing on enabling technologies for smart systems. He is the recipient of three best paper awards and a senior member of IEEE.
