What's New About Lockdown? News of Grocery Shopping & Test Codes
The city recorded 22,611 Covid-19 cases yesterday, setting a daily record for the sixth day in a row, as the city’s 25 million residents remain under a hard lockdown as authorities struggle to contain the virus and carry out mass testing.
With the whole city effectively locked down, residents face a daily race to order fresh food online before stocks run out due to high demand. Others are forming community groups to buy essentials or treats and are questioning when they will be allowed outside again.
While residents in Shanghai try a variety of novel ways to buy daily essentials during the city’s coronavirus lockdown, billionaires it seems are no exception. Even billionaires like China’s ‘venture capital queen Kathy Xu Xin struggles to buy milk and bread under Shanghai’s coronavirus lockdown.
On Thursday a screen capture of a message by Kathy Xu Xin, asking for ways to buy bread and milk for her family went viral on social media app WeChat. The 55-year-old entrepreneur, who was ranked 71 in the World’s Best Venture Capital Investors In 2021 by Forbes, lives in a high-end villa compound in the city’s Pudong District.
Thousands scrambling to stock up on supplies, everyday foods now become luxuries. Ironically, as a culture and event agency, our most popular post is now about how to keep fruits and veg fresh.

However, there is some great news, JD.com and PDD(Pinduoduo) is back, plenty of food and home supply is now free to buy! JD is highly recommend, it will be delivered within 2-3 days. And no group buy is required.
We have 2 special easy access links with plenty of choices for JD products:
Shanghai Link 1:https://u.jd.com/WtAAbnn
Shanghai Link 2:https://u.jd.com/WwAHux0
With PDD, you do have to make it as group buy(30-150box per order), however the price is slightly cheaper.
Starting today, the city has introduced a new system for getting a nucleic acid test done in Shanghai. This replaces the covid test QR code that you previously got from the Health Cloud app.
The big improvement is this: The code can be used for 30 days offline since it's generated, which will save people the trouble of getting a new code for each test. Users can save a screenshot of the code in their phone and scan it when they take a test. For western people, the only way to get it is via alipay.
It's suggested that residents carry their identity card with them as well when doing the nucleic acid test in case the PCR code doesn't work. For western people you can also simply show your passport instead of the PCR code.
