Fast transfer connecting railway station and Metro reopens
A fast transfer route connecting Shanghai Railway Station and the Metro Line 1 Shanghai Railway Station stop reopened on Tuesday, according to the city's Metro operator, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group.
Travelers who had just arrived in Shanghai could transfer to Metro Line 1 within 5 minutes and skip security checks via the 300-meter-long underground tunnel.
The route operates between 9am and 5pm every day.
It had closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before the reopening of the route, passengers who arrived at the railway station at the north square needed to go to the south square to take Line 1.
At the transfer entrance, railway station has upgraded the barrier machines to accelerate the exit process. There would also be staffers on hand to assist.
More self-service ticket machines are planned for the transfer pathway.
Passengers who want to take Metro Lines 3 or 4 would still need to first leave the railway station from the southeast exit.
