Shanghai Happy Valley and Playa Maya Water Park in suburban Songjiang District are celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival in a cool and fun way.


During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, through Saturday, band performances and dragon dances are held at Shanghai Happy Valley. Visitors can also learn how to make zongzi (glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves with fillings), which is a festival delicacy.

'Initial Power, Start!'

Occupying a large area on the second floor of the Palace Mall, the museum aims to break the single and conventional thinking mode followed by traditional exhibitions.


The launch exhibition, "Initial Power, Start! – Contemporary Trendy Art Exhibition," presents a vibrant visual experience that energizes pop culture.

The exhibition features eight middle-aged and young artists to interpret "trend" in their own eyes.

St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra


The St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Russia's oldest symphony orchestra, will give a concert featuring Rachmaninov's classics under the baton of Nikolay Alexeev at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on June 25.


The orchestra will perform Rachmaninov's "Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor" and "Symphony No. 2 in E Minor" to mark the 150th anniversary of the Russian composer's birth.


Russian pianist 24-year-old Daniel Kharitonov will join the orchestra for the performance.

'Meet Gaudí'


The Shanghai exhibition "Meet Gaudí" showcases more than 200 pieces of the genius Spanish architect's magical and fantastic world.


Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) was a prominent representative of Catalan modernism, a distinct architectural expression based on traditional Islamic, Gothic and Baroque styles. His works have an unrealistic, fairytale-like romantic vibe.

'Meeting van Gogh'


Immersive light and shadow exhibition "Meeting van Gogh" opened this week at Meet You Museum Shanghai.


The exhibition features a 600-square-meter art space based on 149 classic works by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. Rendered with digital multimedia technology that combines sound, light and shadow, the exhibition explores van Gogh's inner world through the journey of his life.

'The Dybbuk'


S. Ansky, the Jewish writer, polemicist, and political and cultural activist, is best known for his 1914 play "The Dybbuk," which has been regarded as the brightest pearl in the history of Jewish theater. 


Israeli Gesher Theatre, which is the only theater in the world composed of immigrants and able to operate for a long time, takes its name "Gesher" from the Hebrew word for "Bridge." Over the years, Gesher Theatre has also become a bridge between Israeli and world culture.

'La vie moderne' (Modern Life)


Raymond Depardon is having his first solo exhibition in China "La vie moderne" (Modern Life) at the Power Station of Art with the backing of the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain. A French photographer and filmmaker, Depardon has profoundly redefined the world of contemporary photography since the 1970s.


Showcasing about 100 photographs and one feature film, the exhibition shares the approach of the artist whose visual language is simple and often straight, keeping the subject in a central position.

'Inward and Outward'


Thirty-six young artists, all of whom are graduates of the University of the Arts London, have their first domestic exhibition at the Theoretical Art Center in Deqiu Lixianggu Cultural and Creative Park in Minhang District.


Titled "Inward and Outward: Reflections of a New Era of Artists," the exhibition showcases more than 300 pieces of work.


The group of artists, who have experienced a wave of multicultural influences, pondered the connection between their introspection and the external world, and resorted to multimedia expressions to channel their rich responses.

City Growth


The exhibition titled "City Growth" at Art + Century Museum in Dongjing Town of Songjiang District is a look back on what Shanghai has gone through, and how the city has expanded and evolved over the decades through more than 130 works – from traditional ink paintings, photographs to sculptures and multi-media installations – by 60 artists from all ages.

Drago Cavallo


A crowd of adorable mythical creatures mixed with dragons and horses have arrived in Shanghai, jazzing up the city's waterfront along the Huangpu River.


"Drago Cavallo," a "guardian angel" featuring a dragon's head and a horse's body, was created by acclaimed artist Simon Ma for children with autism and other mental disabilities, spreading a message of love and inclusiveness.

Jade Exhibition


The Shanghai State Quintessence Gallery, based in Songjiang District, is currently holding its jade exhibition, displaying the fine carving skills of gem stone by China's 28 jade masters. The exhibition will run through the end of October.


The art space, covering an area of 1,200 square meters, is highlighted with about 200 jade pieces, each carved, engraved, chiseled and shaped into the country's famed cultural relics, such as Sanxingdui Mask, Square Zun (a vessel) Decorated with Four Rams, terra cotta warriors and tricolor-glazed pottery from the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).
