'Random Goodbyes'
The Jin Xing Dance Theater's latest modern dance work, "Random Goodbyes," is premiering in Shanghai this week, involving dancers from the theater's Paris branch for the first time.
Established by China's celebrity dancer Jin Xing in 1999, the company is Chinese mainland's first private modern dance group, known for a repertoire integrating Eastern and Western cultural conflicts, as well as dance adaptations of drama and opera classics.

Pet Adoption Day
The 68th Pet Adoption Day event, hosted by "Shanghai Adoption Day," will take place at the Huajing Tianjie Outdoor Plaza on Saturday, with 32 cats and 21 dogs looking for their forever homes.
Shanghai Adoption Day is a platform dedicated to promoting fashionable and charitable pet adoption. They advocate "caring for stray animals and adopting instead of buying" and organize fashionable and fun adoption activities to help more stray animals find loving homes.
During this event, veterinarians from the Pet Love International Animal Hospital will be on-site to provide free consultations for pet owners. Additionally, all proceeds from on-site sales will be used for Shanghai Adoption Day's charitable projects.

'God of War'
The musical "God of War" will have its national debut in November at Shanghai's Theater Above.
It revolves around Yang Jian, also known as Erlang Shen, a mythical deity with a third eye in the center of his forehead.
Legend has it that his mother goddess, Yaoji, sister of the Jade Emperor, fell in love and married a scholar who saved her life. When the Jade Emperor, one of the most important gods in Chinese mythology, learned of the marriage, he dispatched forces to capture Yaoji and execute her family. Yang Jian and his sister, Yang Chan, survived.

Shanghai Chrysanthemum Exhibition
The 2023 Shanghai Chrysanthemum Exhibition has opened at Gongqing Forest Park in Yangpu District, delivering a visual feast with over 180,000 pots of chrysanthemums on exhibit.
The exhibition, which includes approximately 500 different types of chrysanthemums, will be on display until November 26.
Eight outdoor chrysanthemum landscapes have been created, with both domestic and international varieties, including some rare ones, on display.
There are also 18 chrysanthemum artworks displaying the attractiveness of haipai (Shanghai-style) flower arrangements, as well as chrysanthemum-themed calligraphy and painting works.
During the show, there will be an intangible cultural heritage bazaar, including traditional Chinese crafts such as paper cutting, palm fiber weaving and clay figurines.
Visitors can also try their hand at leaf painting, chrysanthemum clay and sachet making.

2023 China Shanghai International Children's Book Fair
The 2023 China Shanghai International Children's Book Fair will be held on November 17-19 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center.
Nearly 500 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions will display over 30,000 children's books at this year's festival.
Over 200 professional exchange and reading promotion activities will also be held.
Around 45,000 visitors, including publishers, copyright agents, writers, distributors, and other professionals, are expected to attend these events.
Foreign publishing firms from Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Austria and South Korea are participating in the festival.
Among them are well-known publishers such as Bayard Publishing Group, Gallimard, Clavier Clavis, Corraini, Hachette, MacMillan and Oxford University Press.
Furthermore, specific exhibition zones, such as the Bologna Annual Best Children's Book Publisher Awards area, will bring together award-winning publishing houses from Asia, Europe, South America, North America and Oceania.

'Circular Journey'
Stella McCartney's name has become synonymous with sustainable fashion. The British designer has been at the forefront of industry efforts to create clothing that is both stylish and environmentally friendly, and her impact on the fashion world cannot be overstated.
One of the most recent and impactful efforts to emerge from McCartney's sustainable vision is the "Circular Journey" in collaboration with Bicester Shanghai and Bicester Suzhou shopping villages.

'Balkan Jazz Project'
The Slovenian piano percussion duo Harmelogic will be in town for two concerts "Balkan Jazz Project," featuring Bulgarian kaval player Zhivko Vasilev.
Harmelogic, with Slovenian percussionist and composer Damir Mazrek and Slovenian pianist Kris Korat, presents an exciting mad logical mixture of authentic rhythmic, harmony and melodic themes.
Their music is heavily inspired by Balkan, Mediterranean and African cultures, with a fresh modern music influence of elements of jazz, blues Latin and hip hop.

'LUMIÈRES SHANGHAI'
"LUMIÈRES SHANGHAI" is coming to Panlong Tiandi.
This year, "LUMIÈRES SHANGHAI" is partnering with the China Shanghai International Art Festival and the Yuz Museum to bring 10 illuminations, installations and immersive projects.
Since 2015, the event has been held in downtown Shanghai. This year, it is moving to a Jiangnan-style historical location, which offers a fresh new perspective.
Visitors must obtain a booklet to locate the works that are scattered around.
