刚刚实现财务自由,我在上海开了家西餐厅
The stock market in the past month has been tumultuous, to say the least. To many investors, the earnings made in 2020 have more or less evaporated. It has gotten so bad that many have stopped checking their stocks entirely. Not me. Thankfully, luck has been on my side.
Actually, my stock portfolio has performed so well that I achieved financial independence earlier this year. A long-time electric car industry watcher, I hold many BYD and Tesla stocks, which grew spectacularly last year. As comedian Eddie Canto famously said, "It takes 20 years to become an overnight success." Well, it didn't take me that long. Still, I have put years of hard work into studying the stock market, investment, and the electric automobile industry.
Anyways, I didn't mean to boast about my financial independence. I am writing to share with you some great news: I am opening a restaurant in Shanghai (pictured)!
I have long been wondering what I would do if I no longer had to worry about money. Many lifestyles are possible: join Elon Musk and Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa (前澤友作) to travel to Mars; enjoy the quiet Mediterranean life in Malta 🇲🇹 ; become a fisherman in Halifax, Nova Scotia 🇨🇦; play high-stakes poker tournaments in Barcelona 🇪🇸, Monte Carlo 🇲🇨, and Rozvadov 🇨🇿; invest in early-stage companies that focus on medicine and meat alternatives.
Yet, there is one more childhood dream that I haven't realized. Ever since I tasted boeuf bourguignon and salmon en papillote for the first time, I have wanted to own a restaurant that cooks authentic French food and provides a unique vibe. The world is in no shortage of good restaurants, but I want to build one that has its own character, soul, and flair. A one-of-a-kind place.
Where to open it matters too. When it comes to western food in China, probably no other city can rival Shanghai. Home to the largest number of expats in China (200,000 at the last count) and over 120 Michelin Plate restaurants, Shanghai is arguably the most food-savvy city in the country. The more international and developed a city is, the more dynamic its food scene is.
So after months of looking for a perfect location, finding the best chefs, working with the best interior designer and visual designer, I am ready to welcome you to my restaurant in Shanghai.
Bon appetit!
P.S. See the comment section for restaurant details.
