绿色创新引领 赋能中外企业循环经济转型
暨“保尔森可持续发展奖”交流会成功举办
Seminar on Circular Economy and Corporate Green Transformation / Sharing Session on Paulson Prize for Sustainability was held in Beijing
6月16日下午，由中国循环经济协会联合保尔森基金会、中国美国商会共同主办，慧与（中国）有限公司支持协办的 “绿色创新引领赋能中外企业循环经济转型暨‘保尔森可持续发展奖’”交流会（以下简称“交流会”）在北京成功举办。中国循环经济协会常务副会长赵凯，保尔森基金会北京代表处副首席代表任婷婷，中国美国商会商业可持续发展委员会联合主席、UPS中国公共事务副总裁吴静出席会议并致辞。来自循环经济领域相关的行业组织、大专院校、研究机构和中外企业的近90位嘉宾代表，通过线上或线下的方式参与了此次活动。
On the afternoon of June 16, 2023, the seminar on Circular Economy and Corporate Green Transformation / Sharing Session on Paulson Prize for Sustainability was held in Beijing. The event was co-hosted by the China Association of Circular Economy, the Paulson Institute, and AmCham China, and was supported by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (China). Vice President of China Association of Circular Economy Kai Zhao, Deputy Chief Representative of the Paulson Institute Beijing Representative Office Tingting Ren, and Co-Chairman of the Business Sustainability Committee of AmCham China and Vice President of Public Affairs of UPS China Jing Wu delivered opening remarks. Nearly 90 representatives covering relevant industry associations, research institutions and enterprises participated in the seminar both offline and online.
吴静女士表示，随着全球对气候变化问题的共识不断加深，低碳发展大势所趋，循环经济是推动低碳发展的重要手段。她提到，为了更好地为会员企业提供在应对气候变化、节能减排、绿色金融等议题上的合作与交流机会，中国美国商会成立了商业可持续发展委员会并发起了社会影响力计划，着重关注绿色低碳发展和企业ESG转型，通过组织专题研讨会、峰会和撰写报告等方式分享最佳实践，积极搭建起政府、企业、相关组织机构和智库间的交流合作平台。
Jing Wu believed that as global consensus on climate change deepens and low carbon development has evolved as the trend of today, the idea of circular economy plays an important role in achieving these goals. In order to provide platforms for members to collaborate on climate change, energy conservation, and green finance issues, AmCham China established the Business Sustainability Committee and Social Impact Initiative. Through seminars, meetings, and reports, AmCham China built up communications among governments, corporations, NGOs and research institutions to discuss topics regarding low-carbon development and ESG transformation.
随后，来自智库、院校和企业代表们继续展开了主题演讲、案例分享和圆桌讨论环节，并分别就可持续标准发展等相关政策标准及行业现状、企业通过科技创新实现节能减排、“双碳”目标对促进循环经济转型的作用等话题进行了深入交流。
Representatives from think tanks, universities and enterprises continued to carry out keynote speeches, case sharing and roundtable discussions on sustainability development standards, technology innovations, and the role of carbon targets in promoting circular economy.

Seminar on Sustainable Investments in China
6月21日下午，中国美国商会的商业可持续发展委员会和金融服务与保险工作组联合举办可持续投资在中国研讨会。商业可持续发展委员会联合主席、UPS中国公共事务副总裁吴静致主旨演讲。安可顾问大中华区首席运营官汪祺、中国发展研究基金会副秘书长俞建拖、中央财经大学绿色金融研究院首席经济学家施懿宸、一奇资本创始人兼董事长谭秉忠作为研讨嘉宾出席会议并就ESG理念和现状、政策方向、在中国的实践等话题展开讨论。
On the afternoon of June 21, 2023, the Business Sustainability Committee and the Financial Services and Insurance Committee of AmCham China jointly held a seminar on Sustainable Investments in China. Co-Chair of the Business Sustainability Committee of AmCham China and Vice President of Public Affairs of UPS China Jing Wu delivered keynote speech. COO of APCO China Qi Wang, Deputy Secretary-General of China Development Research Foundation Jiantuo Yu, Chief Economist of International Institute of Green Finance of Central University of Finance and Economics Yichen Shi, and Founder and Chairman of Venturous Group Bingzhong Tan attended the meeting as seminar guests and discussed current trends of ESG and relevant policies and practice in China.
吴静女士表示，可持续发展概念在经过多年的演变后已经成为经济和社会发展的重要共识，中美商会一直积极参与可持续发展进程，作为践行者、推动者，让企业利用自身优势对低碳发展做出贡献。
Jing Wu mentioned in her speech that after years of evolution, sustainable development concept has become an important consensus for economic and social development. Throughout this progress, AmCham China has always helped enable corporations to make use of their own advantages to contribute to low-carbon development.
本次活动主持人汪祺表示本次讲座致力于就什么是ESG投资、在中国发展现状及发展、ESG人才培养和S（社会）与G（治理）评价指标等问题展开讨论。
Qi Wang, the host of the event, expressed that this lecture is dedicated to helping participants understand what ESG investment is, the current situation and development in China, ESG talent training, S (society) and G (governance) evaluation indicators and other issues.
俞建拖先生提到：
随着投资者更愿意投资ESG表现好的企业，ESG信息披露变得重要起来，并随之产生了评级和ESG金融产品。
影响力投资是在设计金融产品或者服务的时候，直接地把产品和商业模式和可能产生的社会、环境影响纳入范围之内，并考虑投资企业或产品能够带来可量化的影响。这不单是做好事，而是量化的、有目的的通过定价来反映未来的回报和风险。
可持续发展、节能减排根本的目标是为了当代人高质量的生活，所以要兼顾不同的利益相关方、兼顾长期和短期的需求，而不是一刀切。因此，设计合理的本土化ESG评级体系非常关键。
Jiantuo Yu mentioned that:
As investors are more willing to invest in companies with good ESG performance, ESG informational disclosure has become significantly more important, which ensued the introduction of ESG ratings and relevant financial products.
Impact investing is when taking the social and environmental impacts of products into consideration during the design stage of financial products or services. It is beyond business morality, but more about evaluating possible returns and risks through quantitative analysis and pricing.
The fundamental goal of sustainable development and energy conservation is to elevate the standard of living for people, thus it is important to consider both long term and short term needs. A reasonable and localized ESG ratings in China is critical to achieving this goal.
施懿宸教授讲到：
ESG可以体现一个企业的经济价值、社会价值和环境价值，以及可持续力，或者说永续力。ESG需要定量指标，而不是感人肺腑的故事，所以必须要有数字衡量才有意义。
如果一个公司的ESG评级过低，会影响海外业务和信贷。中国企业想成为全球一流的企业，必须要面对ESG评级问题。
碳中和有三个必须做到变革的领域：能源、交通和建筑工业。能源结构转型方面，太阳能在中国发展事态良好。在交通领域，电动车在中国的渗透率高达30%，而在美国只有10%，电池、矿物生产力最大的是中国。由于粮食种植的用地不能再进一步压缩，城镇化发展已经到了尾声，整个建筑工业产业结构转型是必然的。
GDP新的增长点是新基建，衍生出AI、数字经济，和芯片发展等问题。中国的资源性发展已至尾声，必须用技术驱动高质量发展，而其中两个非常重要的抓手是数据和技术。
Professor Yichen Shi mentioned that:
ESG reflects the economic, social, and environmental value of a company. ESG is not about storytelling, but quantifiable indicators with real data.
Low ESG rating will negatively impact companies’ operation and credit overseas. Thus, Chines companies must overcome ESG related challenges if they seek success internationally.
Energy, transportation, and construction are the three industries where changes must be made for carbon neutrality. In terms of energy structure transformation, solar energy has enjoyed robust development in China. In transportation, electric vehicles in China takes up 30% of the market while that rate is 10% in the United States. China also retains the most battery and related mineral production capacity. Moreover, since the land for grain cultivation has reached rock bottom, transformation of the entire construction industry is now inevitable.
New infrastructure is the critical new growth point for GDP, which leads to issues such as AI, digital economy, and chip development. China's resource-based development is close to an end, and advanced technology need to be used to drive high-quality development, and two very important starting points are data and technology.
谭秉忠先生表示：
现在消费者已经不是盲目地追求物质，在消费的时候想能不能做好事。ESG背后的本质是要做好事，每一个消费想看到的是对整个社会、环境、经济起到影响。
ESG的关键元素是必须有大数据做支撑。如果我们可以追踪一件产品的影响，才知道个人或一个公司创造或浪费了多少资源。ESG转型本质上也是对大数据和技术的考验。
评价一个企业的ESG是否做的到位可以通过观察其ESG人才的职位。ESG的负责人要在公司内部是管理层才能真正解决问题。
Mr. Bingzhong Tan mentioned that:
Consumers today are no longer blindly pursuing material goods, but considering whether they can do good deeds when consuming. The essence behind ESG is to do good deeds, and what every consumer desires to see is concrete impact on the entire society, environment, and economy.
The key element of ESG must be supported by big data. If we can track the impact of a product, we will know how many resources are created or wasted by an individual or a company. ESG transformation is essentially a test for big data and technology.
We can tell whether a company’s ESG strategy has been implemented thoroughly by the position of its ESG related talents. The person in charge of ESG must be a senior management within the company to make concrete changes.
