高架桥垮塌

overpass collapsed

An overpass in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, collapsed and crushed three cars on Thursday afternoon.

10月10日傍晚，中国东部江苏省无锡市的一座高架桥坍塌，压毁了三辆汽车。

Wuxi police confirmed that one car was parked under the overpass and no one was inside, while the other two were passing by the site on the 312 National Road at around 6:10 pm.

无锡警方证实，其中一辆车停在桥下，里面没有人，而另外两辆车在傍晚6点10分左右经过位于312国道的事故现场。

Roads near the site have been shut down and heavy-duty cranes have been sent for rescue work.

事发地附近的道路已关闭，重型起重机被派往现场参与救援。

Three people were killed and two injured in the accident, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

据新华社报道，事故造成3人死亡，2人受伤。

Polish novelist Olga Tokarczuk and Austrian writer Peter Handke won the 2018 and 2019 Nobel Prizes for literature on Thursday. The double prizes came after a year's hiatus due to sex abuse allegations that rocked the Swedish Academy, which selects the laureates.

The International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing concluded Wednesday with a festive ceremony, at which Chinese Premier Li Keqiang delivered a speech and announced its closing.

Extending congratulations on the success of the expo and gratitude toward the people who supported and attended the event, Li said in his speech that the horticultural expo, themed "Live Green, Live Better," was a great gathering for mutual learning among different civilizations, sharing new green technologies and experiencing the richness of nature.

李克强在致辞中祝贺本届世园会成功举办，并对支持和参与北京世园会的各国朋友致以谢意。他表示，本届世园会以“绿色生活，美丽家园”为主题，是一场文明互鉴的绿色盛会、创新荟萃的科技盛会、走进自然的体验盛会。
