Beijing Comic Con Lineup Revealed

2016-04-30 ThatsBJ城市漫步

Beijing Comic Con’s exciting 2016 lineup has been revealed, and it includes both the zeitgeisty (Game of Thrones! Star Wars: The Force Awakens!), and the classic (Superman! Mulan!).

Scheduled for the weekend of Dragon Boat Festival, BJCC will host celebrities, games, contests and, perhaps most importantly, superman. We mean that quite literally – star of 2006’s Superman Returns Brandon Routh will be traveling to Beijing to appear at BJCC and sign autographs. We considered headlining this piece “World’s Most Attractive Dude Coming to Beijing,” but then we decided that was a disservice to his distinguished acting career. Here’s a photo though, you get it:

Also on the celebrity lineup is Ming Na-Wen, the Chinese-American actress who voiced Mulan in, well, Mulan. (At the BJCC press conference we watched a video she recorded for her Chinese audience, in English and Chinese, and she seemed genuinely hilarious.)

And while inanimate objects can’t be celebrities per se, we think the throne from Game of Thrones ought to count. That’s right, lovers of violent HBO shows that take place in mystical, vaguely medieval worlds: The Iron Throne is coming to Beijing. And you can sit on it. Selfie potential: max. (There will also be GoT screenings at BJCC – exact episodes to be announced.)

If that’s not enough for you, there will also be Star Wars exhibits, and something called “Jedi Training,” which we're told is “for kids.” (We’ll see about that.) Plus panels and meet-and-greets with show, game and movie creators; art exhibitions; cosplay tournaments; and dope merchandise for sale.

All this makes BJCC the perfect weekend activity for families, friends, cosplayers, and anyone who visited that weird Star Trek exhibition at The Place a few months ago. Nerd on.

Beijing Comic Con will take place June 9-10. Click "Read more" to visit its official website.
