A Closer Look at HOPS International Beer Fest: Part 2
Beijing’s first-ever International Premium Beer Festival is next weekend and we can hardly contain ourselves. HOPS is hosting the three-day festival, which will be held at the stunning MGM Beach (formerly Uper+) from July 1-3. To top it off, some of Beijing’s best musicians, DJs, entertainers and dancers will be scheduled to perform throughout the event.
This isn't just any beer festival. There will be a mind-boggling 80 types of premium global beers – from Belgium, Italy, Germany, England and more – to knock back on and enjoy during the event. There will be so much beer! And, of course, there will also be plenty of mouthwatering international foods on offer to pair with your beers. Savoury or sweet, mild or spicy, you’re bound to find the perfect pairing for your beer from the vendors.

Brewers:
Viola
BIRRA ARDUINI Craft Brewery are the folks behind VIOLA beers. They have crafted two types of beer: one is a pale lager and the other a red ale. Both are delicious and can be savored with all kinds of different foods.
Cuvée Des Trolls
The Cuvée des Trolls is a blond beer that’s either filtered or unfiltered, and it’s known for its freshness and scent. It’s also brewed the traditional way, which is always appreciated.
Harboe
There are tons of Bear Beers to try. Lite, dark and everything in between, there really is something for everyone.
Bush
Bush will be bringing its strong Bush Amber, fruit-flavored Pêche Mel’Bush, mature Bush Noël and unique Bush Blonde to the party.
Lindemans
Lindemans is a true original. They'll be featuring their original lambic beers, which are refreshingly fruity.
Konig Ludwig
Sample the traditional Bavarian Konig Ludwig Weissbier, which has notes of apple and banana. Or it that's not your thing how about a taste of the bitter and spicy Konig Ludwig Dunkel?
Brewdog
BrewDog is a maverick craft brewery based in North East Scotland. And their founders are passionate about great craft beers. Definitely stop by their booth to try their Punk IPA.
Kasteel
Kasteel Rouge is a blend of Kasteel Donker with sweet cherry liqueur. The result is a sweet, dark and complex beer.
St. Louis
The St. Louis Kriek is aged for six months. With its cherry and almond flavor it is both sour and refreshing.
Goose Island
Originating in Chicago in 1988, Goose Island has become one of the most successful craft breweries in the Midwest. It also produces some of the most popular, award-winning beers in the States.
Hitachino
Hitachino is famous for its Nest Beers. Sample of few of their brews: The refreshing Hitachino White Ale Beer, the light Hitachino Lager Beer, the Japanese mandarin Hitachino Dai Dai Ale Beer and coffee-infused Hitachino Espresso Stout at the festival.
Food:
Glacio
Glacio’s has been making ice cream since 1972. Since then Glacio has become world-renowned for its chocolate, fine desserts, ice creams, sorbets and ice desserts.
Home Plate BBQ
Carnivores rejoice. Home Plate BBQ will be on the scene armed with meaty goodness from beef brisket to sausage to pulled pork.
Artdog
What beer is complete without an enourmous hotdog? Luckily Artdog will be supplying us with tons of dogs to wash down with your cold beers.
Meet the Brewers:
On July 2 and 3, select brewers have been invited to give a brand introduction and a Q&A with customers. Alain De Loecker, Official Representative for Westmalle (Belgian); Alexandre Nys, Délégué Commercial Export for Brasserie Dubuisson (Belgian); Axel Gummich, Technical Director & Head Brew Master for König Ludwig (Germany); Didi, Brand Ambassador for Goose Island (America) will all be available on Saturday and Sunday. Anna Gai, China Brand Ambassador for Birrificio Baladin (Italy) will be available early on Saturday.
The Bands:
July 1: The Paper Tigers – Get ready to dance with one of Beijing’s best new indie rock bands.
July 2: The Hunters feat. MIRS – One of Beijing's best foreign cover bands will bring their old school funk, soul and rock sounds to MGM on Saturday.
July 3: Disaster Chat – One of Beijing's best original bands will be performing their fresh pop sounds and ambient rock melodies on Sunday.
July 1-3: There will also be dancing, bagpipe performances and DJs performing all three days of the festival. DJs Gino, Max and Nico will be there to provide the beats.
