Donald Trump Using State-Owned Beijing Hotel as Business Address

US President-elect Donald Trump appears to be using a state-owned Beijing hotel as a business address, according to recently discovered domain name registrations.

Publicly available website ownership details suggest that TrumpTowerShanghai.com and TrumpTowerBeijing.com were purchased by The Trump Organization in 2008. The currently inactive domains were most recently renewed on June 29, 2016 – a year after the Donald formally launched his presidential campaign.

The registrant organization’s address is given as: “Beijing Hotel, D Tower Room 2304, No.33 Dong Chang An Ave., Beijing.”

Located less than a kilometer from Tiananmen Square, the Beijing Hotel is a state-owned complex dating back over 100 years. It has served guests including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. Although blocks A, B and C have been rebranded, block D – where the Trump domain names are registered – continues to operate under the original name of Beijing Hotel.

The discovery was initially published in a tweet by Scott Dworkin, advisor to The Democratic Coalition Against Trump and originator of the #TrumpLeaks hashtag. Further enquiries by That’s magazines have found that the domain EricTrump.asia is also registered to the hotel room.

Although most domain searches found that the Eric Trump domain was held by The Trump Organization’s General Counsel, searches conducted through whoadmin.com listed the registrant organization as “The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences” – a group that has previously been criticized for its close business links with Trump. The Academy has faced pressure for its relationship with the mogul, as it has given ‘Star Diamond’ awards to more than a dozen of his golf courses, hotels, casinos and private clubs.

The revelation comes just days after the New York Times reported that the President-elect’s son-in-law and trusted advisor, Jared Kushner, has been chasing a real estate deal with Chinese insurance giant, Anbang Insurance Group.
