一组引发社会共鸣的作品：孙女用200多张照片记录爷爷的最后7年 | Grandpa and I

"The seniors grow old as fast as the children grow up."

“老人衰老的速度跟孩子成长的速度是一样快的。”

Shi Mengyao was born in 1989. Her grandfather, Shi Lianqi was born in 1934.

石勐尧生于1989年。她的爷爷石连启，生于1934年。

Ever since her parents divorced when she was 4 years old, she sees her grandparents as father and mother.

4岁时，父母离异，因此对她来说，爷爷奶奶就和父母一样。

At the age of 12, Shi enlisted as a member of an art troupe. Though training was isolated and lonely for Shi, her grandfather supported her by sending her over a hundred letters.

12岁时，石勐尧入伍加入文工团。孤独的封闭式训练期间，是爷爷寄来的上百封信支持着她。

In 2010, she traveled to perform in other cities for two months before returning home to find that her grandfather looked frail. She then decided to capture those precious moments with him.

2010年，她去外地演出后2个月后回家，发现爷爷明显地老了。为了留住流逝的时间中的一个个瞬间，她决定拿起相机。

"Grandma was always nice to me. But I regret that many of my memories of her are blurry. I didn't want to make the same mistake again. I couldn't afford to forget about my grandpa."

“我奶奶对我非常好，但我发现很多记忆已经变得模糊了，我留下了太多的遗憾。所以我不想再犯下同样的错误，我不能够忘记我的爷爷。” 

"I'm not good at expressing my emotions. The photos speak for themselves."

“我不太会表达自己的情感，我是用照片讲诉我和爷爷的感情。”

"I never learned photography. I just take pictures based on my instincts."

“我没有学习过摄影，所有的照片都只是凭着感觉去拍……”

"I want to take pictures that make you want to kiss and hug them, as if they were of your most beloved ones."

“我想拍那样的照片，那种看了就会让人想亲吻和拥抱照片里的人，仿佛那就是自己最至亲至爱的人。”

"Grandpa used to be the headmaster of a middle school. He cared about his appearance. White shirts and Japanese-style vests were his favorite clothes," Shi said.

“爷爷当过中学校长，很重视自己的形象。他最喜欢穿白衬衫和日系马甲。”

"When I was taking this photo, a passerby asked grandpa: 'Old Shi, taking photos with your granddaughter again?' Grandpa was very delighted at that. And this one became his favorite."

“拍这张照片的时候，旁边有人看到，对爷爷说：‘老石头跟你孙女照相呢？’爷爷特别高兴。后来这也是他最喜欢的一张照片。”

"I always liked taking pictures of grandpa's hands. In my childhood memories, those hands were there every time I looked up. They made me feel safe and attached to them, symbolizing grandpa's love for me."

“我喜欢拍爷爷的手。在我的记忆里，只要我一抬头，就能看见爷爷的手，那双手让我有安全感，让我眷恋，它象征着爷爷对我的爱。”

"Since 2015, grandpa began to feel unwell and went to the hospital frequently."

“2015年之后，爷爷的身体开始变得不好，经常去医院。”

"He became very emaciated."

“他像树干一样瘦了。”

"Grandpa was napping in the afternoon. So I lay beside him and took this photo. I believe there were omens. I was crying the whole time lying there. Before long, he was hospitalized and never came back home.”

“当时爷爷在睡午觉，于是我就躺在爷爷身边拍下了这张照片。我觉得人是有预感的，当时拍这张照片时我一直在流眼泪，拍完没多久，爷爷就住院了，从此就再没回过家。”

"It was January 5 of the lunar calendar in 2017. Grandpa was transferred to the ICU. He didn't sleep a bit that night. I tried to comfort him, thinking he may be nervous. But he just stared at me like that, and I realized that I was wrong. He cried. So did I. I could see in his eyes that he was worried about me. There were so much that he had yet to say, almost like a farewell. The moment was invaluable, when fortunately, the camera was right beside the bed."

“2017年正月初五，爷爷住进ICU，那一夜他没有合眼，我以为爷爷紧张，在一旁安慰着他；爷爷看了我许久，我发现不对劲，爷爷哭了，我也跟着哭了。当时，他眼神里充满不放心，好像有好多的话想要说，好似告别。这个瞬间太重要了，我按下了放在床头边的相机。”

"Grandpa passed away 4 days later at the age of 83."

“爷爷在2017年正月初九离开了我们，享年83岁。”

"The sky was very beautiful on the day he left. I knew that was grandpa comforting me with such wonderful views?"

“他走的那天，天空忽然变的好美，我知道，那一定是他怕我伤心，为了安慰我，才会让我看见那么动人的景色……”

"According to the custom of my hometown, the portrait of the deceased elder should be burnt after the burial. Although I don't see it as a dead man's photo. It was one of the few legacies he left for us."

“按我们老家的规定，过世的老人安葬时，是要把遗像烧毁的。我不觉得它是遗像，觉得那是他在世界上最后留下的东西。”

"Our most precious memories in seven years were kept in the cameras and films. They filled the emptiness after he passed away. Immersed in tears and emotions, I made them into an album to memorialize my grandpa."

“七年来，是相机和胶片帮我保留了我和爷爷最珍贵的回忆，也填补了爷爷离开的空白。我用眼泪和想念把它们编织成怀念爷爷的篇章。”

"May we all become stars in the sky, to light the way for our most beloved ones."

“后来我们都会变成星星，去照亮我们曾经深爱过的人。”

In October 2017, the group of photos named "Me and Grandpa" was selected to be exhibited in the Top 20 2017 Chinese Cutting-edge Contemporary Photography Exhibition.

2017年10月，石勐尧的作品《我和爷爷》入选TOP20•2017中国当代摄影新锐展。
