今天，向白衣天使致敬！

今天（5月12日）是国际护士节，也是南丁格尔诞辰200周年。一场突如其来的新冠肺炎疫情，让2020年的这个护士节变得意义非凡。全球数以万计的护士执甲逆行，日夜奋战在抗疫第一线。今天，我们致敬那些平凡又伟大的白衣天使，愿“南丁格尔之灯”永远闪耀。

May 12 marks International Nurses Day, a time to honor the crucial work that nurses do. This year marks the 200th birth anniversary of famed British nurse Florence Nightingale, and the celebration also takes on special significance since millions of nurses across the world have been working day and night on the frontlines of the battle against COVID-19.

从汶川到武汉 跨越12年的爱心接力

今年的5月12日是第109个国际护士节，也是汶川地震十二周年的日子。而今年这两个日子的相遇，也有了更加特殊的意义。

新冠肺炎疫情发生后，全国各地的护士义无反顾申请加入援鄂医疗队，这其中就有24岁的汶川籍护士——佘沙。

佘沙是四川省第四人民医院的一名护士。疫情发生后，她两次主动请缨去武汉一线支援。“2008年汶川地震时，我们接受了很多帮助，我觉得我也要去帮助更多的人。”佘沙说。

地震那年，佘沙正在读小学五年级，当时的情景还历历在目。也是在那时，驰援的医护人员让年幼的佘沙从此立志当一名护士。“我那时候就觉得他们很厉害，我也想成为那样的人。”

今年2月2日，作为四川省援助湖北第三批医疗队队员，佘沙奔赴抗疫第一线，在武汉坚守了59天。在这59天里，佘沙也遇到过不少困难，但在她看来，在前线的辛苦不算什么。“我是一名护士，这些都是我应该做的。”

She Sha, a 24-year-old nurse from southwest China's Sichuan Province, was part of the team that left for Wuhan on February 2 to aid Hubei Province in fighting COVID-19.

The nurse from the Fourth People's Hospital of Sichuan overcame many difficulties during her 59 days in the heart of China's coronavirus outbreak.

 "As a person from Wenchuan County where so much help was given when there was an earthquake in 2008, I feel obliged to help more people in return," She said.

She Sha was a fifth-grader when the Wenchuan earthquake took place in 2008. "I was impressed by the bravery of medical staff and I wanted to become that kind of person."

ICU里的“硬核”护士：生命与心灵的守护者

在重症监护室病房（ICU）里，许多患者本就因长期卧床而身体僵硬、难受不堪，ICU的环境及各种因素给他们精神上也带来了一些不良影响。因此，护士们除了保证常规的医疗护理之外，还要担负起患者生活保姆和心理导师的角色。

北京协和医院ICU护士长夏莹就是其中之一。1月末，武汉疫情仍在发展，北京协和医院整建制接管武汉同济医院中法新城院区重症病房。夏莹毅然奔赴抗疫前线，度过了整整80天。

“好多病人长期在ICU躺着，我们经常会发现病人的肢体都是弯曲的，不能动的。”夏莹说，为此，他们会协助患者活动身体，进行康复治疗。

The role of nurses is even more important for ICU patients.  

Critical care nurses, from all across China, who use life-sustaining technology to help treat severely ill patients made up the majority of those dispatched to Hubei Province to help fight the coronavirus.

Xia Ying, an ICU head nurse from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, was among them. She and her colleagues took over an isolation area at Wuhan's Tongji Hospital where they treated Wuhan's worst COVID-19 infections.

Xia said they usually found patients' bodies were bent and stiff after spending a long time lying in the ICU. To help out, they got them started early with physical exercise.

此外，患者的精神状态也需要护士时刻关注。夏莹说，医疗队的护士们都会主动与患者沟通交流。即便是给注射了镇静剂的患者做护理，护士们也会和他们说说话，他们也许听不到，但夏莹觉得他们是能“感受”得到的。

作为队长同时又是年轻人的“主心骨”，夏莹的另一个任务是防止医疗队队员感染新冠病毒。医疗队一共有134名护士，其中超过四成是90后。她说：“他们太有活力了，有时候就不太注意（院感）这方面，所以我跟他们说做事情要慢慢来。”

The ICU nurses gave full attention to the psychological as well as physical conditions of their patients.

Xia Ying said the nurses talked to their patients when treating them, including those who were sedated at the time. They might not have been able to hear, but Xia believes they "felt it."

Another job for Xia was to ensure that the 134 nurses on the medical team - more than 40 percent whom were born in the 1990s - did not get infected.

巴西贫民窟的“逆行者”：这是我的使命

位于圣保罗的帕赖索波利斯是巴西最大的贫民区之一。在这里，有超过十万人得不到任何政府援助。贫民区中街巷重叠、房屋连片，给医疗救援工作的展开带来了巨大的挑战。

新冠肺炎疫情发生后，为了拯救更多人的生命，当地七名医护人员组建起一支医疗救援小队。从业15年的护士恩德森·马托斯便是其中一员。背井离乡奔赴救援前线的他在谈到这份工作时说：“我不害怕新冠病毒，这是我的使命。”

In Brazil, Enderson Matos, who has been a nurse for 15 years, joined a front-line seven-person rescue team in Paraisopolis, one of the country's largest favelas.

Matos left his home and family and lived in a temporary dormitory with his team members in Paraisopolis, where over 100,000 people lived without government assistance. The favelas are made with lots of small alleys and houses built on top of each other, making them difficult places for medical services to reach.

"You would want to step forward, you want to help," Matos said. "I'm not afraid of the coronavirus. That is my mission."
