Denied! Your Work Visa May Get Rejected Because of These Reasons
An American living in Shenzhen had to stop his job temporarily and is now applying for a new visa, however Chinese visa authorities said his applications were rejected because he couldn't provide the necessary documents.
"My job had to stop because my visas expire now and the visa extension applications were rejected by the visa authorities this month," the American, who gave his name only as Kenny, said yesterday. - reported by Chinese media.
The Chinese Government has tightened visa policies, and many expatriates’ visas have consequently been rejected. But this American expat had been living in Shenzhen for six years already, he said.
However, the information provided on June 27th by the Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in Guangzhou, to which expatriates in China are required to file visa applications, confirmed that there were reasons for the rejection of the visas. Anyone who is going to apply visa extension should fulfill the following:
1
No-criminal record
Your record will be uploaded onto the police system. If they every find any bad record on your file, your visa extension may get rejected.
2
Office address problem
The Chinese government requires all legitimate Chinese businesses to register their address with local authorities and obtain a unique license number and address. If a company moves to a new address, they should communicate it to the relevant government department. What's more, when a government officer comes to investigate, the person in charge or staff shall explain company details and status to the officers.

Tax paying problem
China's five-year tax rule for foreigners is something that most of you may have heard of but don’t understand fully. In short, regardless of whether you are teaching English, own a business, or work for one of the big multinationals, if you stay in China for a prolonged period of time, you are likely to have to pay tax to avoid a bad record, then the government will allow you to apply for an extension on your work visa easily.

Illegal Visa Overstays
As I mentioned in our previous articles, a fine or a deportation will be kept in filed, which will have negative impacts on your visa application records. If one overstays their visa for a significant period, usually over one month, he/she might be put into a detention camp for 5 to 15 days and repatriated to their home country. So double check and keep note of the allowed duration of your stay! More detailed: China Crackdown on Illegal Visa Overstays with Strict Punishment
