Who Should Make the First Move? Women, or Men?

An interesting debate was recently started on Weibo. 

The question was:

Should a woman chase after a man?

Famous actress Yuqi Zhang was in a TV show once and said:" Girls shouldn't take the initiative because boys should be the ones making the first move.

She thinks that if girls really want to be happy their relationships better be passive. You can certainly express your affection and love for him, she says, but you can’t chase him around.

She firmly believes that if a man truly cares for a woman, then he should do whatever it takes to gain her attention and make the first move - not the other way around.

 Do girls have to be passive if they want to be happy? 

This question got a lot of mixed responses.

Some people think that men and women are equal. As long as it’s true love, it doesn’t matter who pursues whom.

This Weibo user said: "I chased my man around at first, and he also believes that men and women are equal. But when we finally started dating, he got so picky… He started complaining about how, supposedly, I didn’t care about him enough, and that affected our relationship. I think he cherished it at first, then over time he just took it for granted. "

"A girl can attract any man she likes, but nowadays girls are a lot more independent. The most important thing is to figure out how to best get along with your man for the sake of your relationship now and in the future."

The majority of online users seem to agree: a girl should do what she can to attract a man, but should NOT chase after him.

Even though women and men are equal, it is in every girl’s own right to pursue her love if she is convinced that it’s worth the efforts.

But you should be careful with how you pursue it - don’t be too needy. Just be yourself. Be charming, lovely, and attractive, and your man will come to you.

If you do it patiently, then it will work. And for that, there are many different ways to help you improve your “likability”. For one, you can stand taller with your back straight to show confidence.

You can also learn more about what he’s passionate about: what his taste in music is, his hobbies, favorite books or activities, and then show interest in some of those areas. Then you can start establishing casual conversations naturally, and things will fall in the right place.

If the man doesn’t want to make the first move, then he’s probably not the right man for you.

In conclusion, girls shouldn’t have to chase men they like because they already have the best tools at their disposal: their own strengths and charm will get guys crawling.

All you have to do is be brave and patient, and wait for your knight to come to you.
