Hatchery Dongsi is closing
Our favourite (and only) hutong culinary incubator is shutting up shop
In perhaps unsurprising news to anyone who has been following the gradual demise of the hutongs, Hatchery has announced that it's closing the Dongsi location.
Following the likes of Migas, Hatchery is moving to focus solely on its CBD gig – Arcade. In a message sent to the Hatchery fans WeChat group, the managers cited the 'hutong related regulatory and operational issues' as part of the reason for the move. The team is also setting its sights on 'Guomao's considerable concentration of China's millennial market', they said.
It's not all bad news, though. According to the message, the CBD move is coinciding with the launch of Dx, the 'straight to online food delivery accelerator', which is great news for anyone who feels like their food has been having too much incubating and not enough accelerating of late.
