The hottest parties going down in the capital this weekend
With a whole raft of brilliant international DJs touching down in Beijing, this weekend's about to go off. Check out our picks of the best parties to head to over the next couple days.
FRIDAY
Free the Robots
Dada. Fri 15. 80RMB; 60RMB (before midnight)
Underground
hip-hop producer Free the Robots is regarded as one of the pioneering
artists to come out of LA's beat movement, with a tendency to go out of
bounds and pull together jazz, psychedelic music, electronica and
hip-hop. The energy and technical skill behind his live performances has
landed him a place among other innovative DJs, sharing stages with
kindred spirits like Flying Lotus, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush and Afrika
Bambaataa.
Disco Extravaganza
Migas Mercado. Fri 15. Free
Looking for an outrageous LGBT party? Migas Mercado hosts this monthly extravaganza that brings together disco tunes, drag queens and live performances for one helluva good time. DJs: Rodreed and Tanner.
SATURDAY

Sir Teen. Sat 16-Sun 17. 300RMB (one-day pass); 580RMB (two-day pass)
Bad news: Ultra Music Beijing has been postponed. Good news though, its bumper lineup will

Yinyang Music Festival 2018
Huangyaguan Great Wall. Sat 16-Mon 18. 580RMB (three-day pass, presale); 380RMB (one-day pass, presale)
This year's Yinyang Festival takes place as usual on the Great Wall with a bangin' line up of DJs, including Marcus Henriksson and Jack de Marseille. But the fifth-anniversary special of this legendary party also has a twist: a portion of proceeds will go towards an ecological project in Tianjin.
Marcus Henriksson
Infrarouge. Sat 16. 80RMB; 60RMB (presale)
An electronic producer who likes to talk of his sets as 'journeys' in the spiritual sense, Marcus Henriksson – formerly one half of Minilogue – returns to Beijing for a night of pulsating beats and maybe a little personal reflection along the way.
Henning Baer
Lantern. Sat 16. 80RMB; 50RMB (presale)
Founder of Berlin techno institution Grounded Theory, Henning Baer has honed a rhythmic, razor-sharp style that combines music from different eras and genres, while still remaining rooted in techno. Head to Lantern as he plays a set that fuses together forward UK music, experimental electronics, and underground techno from across the globe.
Feloneezy + Stevie Whisper
Dada. Sat 16. 60RMB
A 'stalwart of Belgrade's dance music scene', Feloneezy's drawn support from the likes of Bauuer, RL Grime, Dro Carey, Mssingno, Dorian Concept and more. With longtime associate Jackie Dagger, the versatile DJ also created Mystic Stylez, a nine-strong DJ collective. He's joined on Saturday night by fellow countryman Stefan Unkovic, a long-serving member of Mystic Stylez and founder of SuperSizeShe collective.
SUNDAY
Goth-Trad
Dada. Sun 17. 60RMB
With 15 years of producing under his belt, Takeaki Maruyama (aka Goth-Trad) is one of the most respected Japanese producers in the electronic scene. Despite having made waves around the world with his intense dark tracks, he's known locally in Tokyo for Back to Chill, one of few regular underground music events in Japan.
