Sex survey reveals China's most sexually active cities

Let's talk about sex, baby

SEX! Got your attention? Good. Internet company NetEase has released the results of its nationwide sex survey this week, just in time to make you feel bad if you aren't getting any this Qixi.

As reported by People's Daily, the survey – conducted between November 2017 and April 2018 and looking at people born in the '80s and '90s – found that out of the 4,000 respondents, people between the ages of 31 and 35 were the most sexually active, getting it on at least twice a week, while half of people born in the 1990s admitted to having no sex life at all. We millennials are far too busy eating avocado toast to think about sex...

Also, in not-surprising-at-all sex news, the survey found wealthier people are more sexually active, with households with a combined income exceeding 50,000RMB per month having sex at least weekly, according to SCMP. It was also found that people who are less busy have more time to get busy, so to speak.

Now, which places are having the most sex? Sorry to break it to you, but it's not Beijing. People in Sichuan and Chongqing are definitely getting some on the regular, while the survey found that 60 percent of those surveyed in Shenzhen are enjoying sex at least once a week – that's 15 percent more people than in Beijing and Shanghai. There was no mention of how many times they don't enjoy sex per week, however...

Out of the 4,000 who were surveyed, around half were married or had a partner, one third were single or going to find that special someone eventually and need not worry about it according to their mum, while the rest didn't specify a relationship status.

In total, 54 percent of responders claimed to have sex once a week and, while despite not being asked, we're sure 100 percent of 16-year-old boys also claim to be doing the same but 'you don't know her, she goes to a different school, shut up'.

We must take into account that 4,000 people is a pretty small sample size for a survey in China and that it was done by NetEase-owned marketplace Yanxuan and adult toy company TryFun, so many of the people in the sample are more likely to be sexually active. So don't worry if the results make you feel bad about your own sex life or lack thereof. But if the results make you feel good about your sex life as you're getting more than the average responder, go away, we don't want to hear from you and your massive libido. Qixi kuaile!
