Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah

Christian Scott, also known as Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is a two-time Edison Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated trumpeter, composer and producer. The nephew of jazz innovator and legendary sax man, Donald Harrison, Jr., his musical tutelage began under the direction of his uncle at the age of thirteen. Since 2002, Christian has released eleven critically acclaimed studio recordings, two live albums and one greatest hits collection.
Christopher Nissen

With supermodel good looks and a winning falsetto, Danish pop sensation Christopher Nissen was manufactured for international success. Nissen appeared seemingly out of nowhere in August 2011, rising to fame after a video of an acoustic cover of Robyn's 'Call Your Girlfriend' was uploaded onto YouTube. This video instantly garnered thousands of hits, paving the way for Nissen's latest single and debut album.
Nomak

Japanese hip-hop producer Nomak weaves together chilled-out tunes that rely on piano, flute, sax and more. Known for his melodious, jazz-based approach to his music, Nomak returns to Beijing for another unique night of blended sound.
Suchmos

Deriving their moniker from Louis Armstrong's nickname of 'Satchmo', it's perhaps unsurprising that Japanese band Suchmos take inspiration from rock, hip-hop and jazz. After performing at a whopping 14 rock festivals last summer, such as Summer Sonic and Rising Sun Rock Festival, they head to Beijing in support of their just-released fourth studio album The Anymal.
Acid Android Live 2019

Acid Android (often stylised as acid android) is the solo project of Yukihiro, drummer of the Japanese rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel. They are signed to yukihiro's Tracks on Drugs label, a division of Ki/oon Records. Acid Android releases, as with the other L'Arc-en-Ciel members' solo projects, take place when they are on hiatus.
The Score

Eddie Anthony and Edan Dover have unapologetically clung onto a defined identity, which they've defined as 'a kick ass band'. Their energetic performances have made the New York-born and Los Angeles-based duo into a genre-defying phenomenon, crossing the lines between rock, pop, indie, and electronic music. Powered by anthems such as “Legend” and “Unstoppable,” The Score has since reached hundreds of millions of cumulative streams within three years and over the course of two EPs.
MTA Festival 2019

Returning for another year, two-day music fiesta MTA Festival takes over Tianmo Desert this June, this time with local icons Higher Brothers, Re-Tros and Omnipotent Youth Society leading the charge. A desert rave featuring music, technology and art (that's what MTA stands for, in case you were curious), dedicated festivalgoers can also camp out for the entire duration.
Yinyang Music Festival 2019

Acclaimed music festival Yinyang returns for the sixth year this June. No word on headliners yet, but expect a jam-packed schedule of live performances, visual art projections and even yoga classes taking place over five different stages. For those who want to grab some sleep at some point during the festivities, camping and hotel packages are also available.
Bowie By Mick Rock

Bowie by Mick Rock is a special exhibition co-sponsored by the Seattle Museum of Popular Culture (MOPOP) and Modern Sky. Between 1972 and 1973, as David Bowie was redefining glam rock as the androgynous alien rock star Ziggy Stardust, fellow Londoner Mick Rock was the musician’s official photographer. Catch snapshots of 65 rare Bowie moments, from the extraterrestrial fashion outfits on album covers to intimate dressing moments and private performances.
Marina Abramović
Light Society. Until Sat 15 (every day except Mon) 50RMB.
Marina Abramović, a Serbian performance artist who works with video, photographs, sculpture and more, has been exploring feminist and body art for over 40 years. Her pieces challenge the relationship between artist and viewer, calling for her audiences to reinterpret the possibilities and limitations of the body and mind. This exhibition will showcase new and key works – some of which have never before been shown in China.
Romeo and Juliette

Romeo and Juliet, the classic Shakespearean tale of a pair of star-crossed lovers, comes to Beijing's main stage. In this French musical, Shakespeare's story is told in an entertaining way – with catchy pop and rock tunes by composer Gerad Presgurvic and modern street-punk styled costumes worn by the cast. Played for more than 15 years all around the world, the hit musical brings a timeless story and its mythical characters to life, all with a modern twist.
Shanghai Ballet: The White-Haired Girl

The Shanghai Ballet was formally renamed in 1979 at the base of The White-haired Girl performing team. The White-haired Girl, which has been staged nearly 2000 times, won the Gold Medal at the Best Classical Dance Works of the 20th Century in China. Since its founding, the Shanghai Ballet has also seen many young dancers gain many awards in international dance competitions. The company not only tours nationwide, but regularly performs internationally both across Europe and Asia.
The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra

The youngest chief conductor in the orchestra's illustrious history, Lahav Shani leads the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D, Op.35 and Shostakovich's Symphony No.5 for one night only in Beijing. With French violinist Renaud Capuçon.
The Wizard of Oz

Celebrating the beloved 1930's film that saw a generation of young girls want sparkly red shoes (just us?), The Wizard of Oz musical heads to the Beijing stage with a cacophony of timeless songs, bright sets and much heel-clicking. Take a trip back down the yellow brick lane with Dorothy and all her friends in need.
