More BJ entertainment venues close again amid Gongti covid woes
Just shy of four days since bars and nightlife establishment were permitted to reopen to in-house customers, officials have called the shots to suspend entertainment venues in Chaoyang in an abrupt halt, according to local news media.
The announcement came following three new confirmed cases recorded in Xicheng, Fengtai and Huairou district, all of which have been linked to a cluster of bars on Gongti Xilu on June 6.
While the infections are still being traced, entertainment and nightlife venues in Chaoyang including bars, clubs, live performance venues, KTVs and internet cafes have been ordered to cease operations temporarily today, announced in the press conference this afternoon.
Numerous bars/events space in Dongcheng and Xicheng have also been told to shut down including the likes of School, Modernista, El Nido, Zarah, Tiki Bungalow, as entertainment venues undergo further covid inspection city-wide.
No doubt a total bummer for those who’s looking to head out and celebrate this weekend, but given the constant changing uncertainty, it’s wise to err on the side of caution, and best give your venue a ring before you visit.
