There's a new 'grammble exhibition to check out at SKP-S
In association with SKP-S and QBeijing
Synonymous with high-end boutiques and experimental art displays, SKP-S is the place for shopping (or window browsing) and taking in some out-of-the-box art while you're at it. The swanky mall has been rethinking luxury retail for a while now and it's pushing the boundary again with another large-scale installation.
A new free multi-media installation has taken over the T-10 zone on the fourth floor – a whopping 4,000 sqm space dedicated to all things fashion and creative. Named Out Sad by artist Leon Wang, it's a conceptual exhibition that’s said to dive into modern day struggles and loneliness.
Divided into several sections, the installation is dotted with a swathe of faceless bear-shaped figurines looking introspective with its head down.
Each section is of a story of the nameless character's development from childhood to adulthood. Bedecked with bold colours and evocative elements such as dark tapes, chains, vines and flower, it seems to portray the figurine trying to grapple with life’s many challenges and gradually coming out of its shell and break free of restraints.
While all looking identical, the figurines vary hugely in sizes and shapes from pocket-sizes to giant sculptures and are made of a wide range of materials from rubber, metal, wood, plastic to crystal, and even gold. There's a number of multi-media and interactive installations which bring the character to life through visually stimulating digital art.
An ideal setting for taking some snaps for the gram, or simply catching a break from shopping. Feast your eyes on this expansive and free installation running 'till Oct 10th, and always keep an eye out for something new and left-field at the T-10 zone of the SKP-S.
