New Seat Belt Regulations

Shanghai Department of Transportation has issued new regulations for drivers over the weekend, which includes fines for not wearing seatbelts. In the first day of the traffic regulation implemation, Shanghai Daily reported traffic police stopped about 450 seatbelt-less passengers on Saturday. 


Top offences include:


NOT WEARING SEATBELTS

Mandatory wearing of seatbelts at all times, including backseat passengers. Fines can be up to RMB50 per person.



CHILDREN NOT IN SAFETY SEAT

Children under 4 must be in their own safety seat. 



MULTIPLE LANE CHANGES

Drivers cannot change multiple lanes at once. Fines can be as hefty as RMB 200 per offence.




If you are fined, you have to pay within 15 days at your district's Transportation Authority.
