5 Best Breakfast Sandwiches To Start Your Morning
You have a lot of options for breakfast around Shanghai, especially when it comes to local street food. But for the breakfast sandwich enthusiast, options are a bit slimmer. Here are some of our favorites.
Bacon Egg & Cheese @ Boom Boom Bagels
What is it: Bacon, fried egg & mozzarella cheese, tomato
How much: RMB 45
Where: Boom Boom Bagels, 39 Anfu Lu
Words fail when trying to describe the amazingness of the breakfast sandwiches at Boom Boom Bagels. And while we could’ve easily chosen anything there to feature (even a DIY creation), our favorite has to be the Bacon Egg & Cheese. Gooey mozzarella with egg, bacon and a fat slice of tomato on an everything bagel, heaven.
Homade Sausage Pattie Egg & Cheese @ Sumerian
What is it: homemade sausage, fried egg and melted mozzarella
How much: RMB 45
Where: 415 Shanxi Bei Lu
Okkkkk confession time, the breakfast sandwiches at Sumerian are the same as Boom Boom Bagels, they actually are Boom Boom Bagels. So why feature the same thing twice? Because they’re great, ok? Especially this one, good lord, the Homade Sausage Pattie Egg & Cheese is like something an real American grandparent would whip up at 6am. And while it’s not the most healthy thing you’ll ever eat, it’s worth straying for.

Spread the Bagel isn’t necessarily the healthiest option around, but daaaaaaamn it’s good. Only one of their menu items could actually be considered a ‘breakfast sandwich’ though, and it’s this hearty hunk of cheesy, eggy, bacony bliss. Not into it? They have a DIY menu so you can make something you are interested in.
