Ounce Whiskey Bar Opens in United Valley
Besides Tour and Shrine, it seems like a lot of business have been shifting around in the United Valley complex. The third floor has added a cozy, jazzy little whiskey bar called Ounce that is well worth checking out.
The place is owned and operated by a whiskey and cigar-loving Shanghainese gentleman by the name of Marley. He used to be in the tech industry but decided a whiskey bar would be much more enjoyable.
Smoky Rob Roy- Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky, Sweet Vermouth, Angostura Bitters, Handmade Spice. RMB 90
Most cocktails are RMB 80-100, and the menu will be regularly updated. The whisky list is pretty extensive, most are around 80 a glass but range up to around 200 for the good stuff. They also have beer on tap (including some expensive but delightful De Molen).
Chanson- Bombay Sapphire Gin, Sole Berries Gin, Sparkling Wine, Handmade Syrup, Lemonade. RMB 80
The venue itself had some serious log cabin, intimate vibes. Great option for a date. Smokers may especially enjoy the place- the front of the bar is half outdoors (so you can smoke there) and there’s also a small outdoor terrace upstairs.
They’ll also have live music every Saturday night around 10:30pm. Mostly English folk, jazz and blues we’re told.
