Road Closings this Weekend for Shanghai Tourism Festival
A big FYI to people planning on running around the city Sunday: a large section of the Huaihai lu will be closed to motorists Sunday evening as the city will hold a parade to launch this year’s Shanghai Tourism Festival.
Huaihai lu, as well as several surrounding streets will have closures and buss route diversions throughout the festival period (which runs from September 7-11). Here are all the specific times and locations:
From Sep 7th 12:00 am to Sep 11th 5:00 am
Longmen Road (located between Middle Jinling Road and Middle Huaihai Road) will have no traffic allowed, public transportation on that road will be rerouted.
From Sep 8th 8:30 pm to Sep 9th 1:00 am
Middle Huaihai Road (located between South Xizang Road and South Chongqing Road) will have no traffic allowed, the public transportation on that road will be rerouted.
On Sep 10th from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm
Middle Huaihai Road (located between South Xizang Road and South Huangpi Road), Liulin Road (located between Middle Jinling Road and Taicang Road), Puan Road (located between Middle Jinling Road and Taoyuan Road), Taoyuan Road (located between South Xizang Road and Puan Road), Shouning Road (located between South Xizang Road and Liulin Road), Wangting Road (located between Middle Jinling Road and Middle Huaihai Road) and Taicang Road (located between South Xizang Road and Puan Road) will have no traffic allowed, public transportation on that road will be rerouted.
On Sep 10th from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Middle Huaihai Road (located between South Huangpi Road and South Shanxi Road) and South Maoming Road (located between Nanchang Road and Changle Road) will have no traffic allowed, public transportation on that road will be rerouted.
On Sep 10th from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm
Traffic is allowed through the intersections of both Middle Huaihai Road and South Shanxi Road, but no traffic will be allowed on the east side of South Shanxi Road (Middle Huaihai Road).
On Sep 10th from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm, Middle Huaihai Road (located between Liulin Road and South Maoming Road) will not allow cars crossing from south to north.
On Sep 10th from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm
The traffic control on Middle Jinling Road (located between South Xizang Road and South Huangpi Road) and Changle Road (located between Middle Chongqing Road and South Shanxi Road) will “depend on circumstances.”
On Sep 10th from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm
The North South elevated road and middle Huaihai Road down ramp will be closed.
Only the vehicles that have specific parking certificates or the specialty/emergency vehicles will be allowed on the roads mentioned above.
The Public Security Traffic Management Department may alter some road closings depending on the circumstances. Stay safe make sure you allow a little extra time to get through any of these areas!
