What is MINISO and Why Should You Go?

Unless you are a complete hermit, chances are you have seen a MINISO store or two (or 100) around in Shanghai. Why should you know MINISO? 

This brand started in Guangzhou in 2013 and already has 1,800 stores world-wide in major cities including Los Angeles, Bangkok and Tokyo. In Shanghai alone there are 61 shops. But it doesn't stop here….they have massive plans to open 80 shops a month. 

Now that we got the hard facts out of the way, here is why we have recently fallen in love with this store.

RMB10:

At least 90% of the shop has a full stock of items that costs RMB 10 

Nail polish: RMB 10 for 2

Pens: RMB 10 for 3 

Sewing kit：RMB 10

Hand Cream: RMB 10 for 2

Travel Containers: RMB 10 for 2

Jump Rope: RMB 5 

Sachet: RMB 10 

Eyeshadow: RMB 10  

Wait, that’s not all…the list goes on! You have the fancy black Q-tips and, tissue packs.

RMB15: 

It may be trivial, but can you find cheaper phone charging cords? Even the cheapest shop, Family Mart sells them for RMB30. 

Try beating this Taobao! low-cut socks for men AND women. Unless you want fancier designs, this is the shop that has it all.

MINISO may sound like a girly store, but it has some manly tools. Check out this interchangeable 37-head screw driver set.

Over RMB 20

2-headed Charge Cable: RMB 20

The MINISO umbrellas are not the best quality, but they're still much better than the ones people sell at the Metro exits. Price range is around RMB 30.

MINISO power banks are around RMB100. It’s a splurge for the shop, I know. But there are some super thin ones that can fit in your purse perfectly. Also, if you are a Cartoon lover, you will enjoy them much more!
