22 New Shopping Malls Coming to Shanghai Before 2017 Ends

Malls, malls everywhere! Shanghai is closing 2017 with 22 new malls in the last 100 days of the year (so some of these have partially/soft opened already). From shopping malls with open air football fields to ones with infinity pools, there really will be a place to shop till you drop for everyone! Plus, there’ll be no more complaining from bored husbands that they have nothing to do.


Jingan IMIX Park

Roof lighting and sunshine pool



Daning, just behind Jingan, is now home to this magnificent shopping centre. It’s made up of 5 separate buildings, each with a different theme. Building 2 is perfect for sports enthusiasts, with a football field and swimming pool on the roof!

Gateway

Shanghai’s largest shopping mall for children



This will be the biggest shopping mall in the local area. There are two shopping centres connected by a glass corridor. The first is devoted to fashion, while the second is a children’s paradise! It’s got everything your little ones could want - oceans, castles, jungles, you name it!

LuOne Crystal Plaza

Master architect Moshe Safdie has reproduced a city oasis



Situated near Metro station Madang Road (Line 9/13), this is the famous architect Moshe Safdie’s first ever major commercial project in China. This plaza will house many of the world’s top fashion brands and restaurants, as well as showcasing art exhibitions and other events in the future. Definitely one for the lovers of a more high end lifestyle!

SH Le Rendez-Vous

New fashion landmark 



Nanfeng Group already owns a a number of shopping malls in Shanghai, and soon they’ll be opening yet another one on Huaihai Lu. All five floors will house many top international luxury brands. It’s expected to become a fashion landmark of Huaihai Lu.

Bund Financial Centre

The mystery is soon to be revealed



One of the attractions of this particular mall is the spectacular panoramic view of all of Lujiazui. But it’s not all about the view: there will also be shops, offices, art exhibitions, and even hotels inside!

Century Plaza

Largest indoor atrium in Shanghai



This place cost a whopping RMB 20 billion to build! Four Metro exits lead directly into it, so you’ll have no problems getting inside. There are a huge range of shops inside.

Harbourcity

Old shipyard converted into an art centre



This enormous shopping centre will bring together large department stores, international brand exhibitions, and an international music and culture centre, to name just a few. Plus it’s kept some of its old shipyard charm!

Tian Ge Xingshang Hui

First large shopping mall in Zhangjiang



Situated slap bang in the centre of the hectic financial area of Zhangjiang, this will be the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long, stressful day. It’s the first large international fashion mall in the area.


Where: Jinxiu Dong Lu Chuansha Lu, New Pudong district

Tang Zhen Sunshine Paradise

The first one-stop shopping centre in Tang town



One of the four new towns in New Pudong district is called Tang, whose population of 300,000 had no where to do their shopping. Luckily this mall has opened so residence of Tang now have somewhere to eat drink shop and generally be merry.

Tang Zhen Henggu Square

Battling it out with the other new mall



This mall is expected to open two months after Yangguang Tiandi (above), directly opposite it! It will include hundreds of shops including luxury brands, Carrefour supermarket, and a cinema.

Zhoupu Yongle Square

Competition for Wanda in Zhoupu



Even though the doors are not opened yet, Wanda in Zhoupu is already worried that Yongle Square will steal their customers. They promise twice as many brands as Wanda, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens at the end of the year.

Bairun Shidai Centre

The first large shopping centre in Lingang Xincheng



This is the first shopping centre in Lingang Xincheng, close to the famous Shuidi Lake resort. The shopping centre is divided into five different sections: restaurants, famous streets, “charm”, ladies’ square and cool music.

IGC

Hollywood Walk of Fame



Some of Shanghai’s leading local enterprises have collaborated on this project, inspired by Hollywood themes like the Walk of Fame. When it opens it’ll have an IMAX cinema, as well as a variety of well known restaurants, clothing, leisure and entertainment brands.

Mark Center (business section)

Shop ‘til you drop like you’re in New York



The towering buildings at the North Bund might make you think you’re in New York for a second. It incorporates 72,000 fashion business projects, as well as a high-end shopping centre! There are also places to eat here and space for outdoor cultural activities.

Bailian Quyang Shopping Centre

Twenty years of business



Do you remember when Korean New World Group opened a store in Shanghai in 1997? (We don't but apparently it happened.) It was closed down but they reopened in October last year, and by the end of this year, they’ll be opening another huge shopping mall.


Where: 800 Quyang Lu, Yangpu district

When: Late 2017


Kong Jiang Junxin Century Square

Top for business



Kongjiang Lu used to be the business centre in Yangpu district, and it looks set to reclaim its title with this new shopping centre. What with Zijing Square and and Xuhui Mall close by, will it come to be known as “Little Huaihai” again?

Paradise Walk

24-hour shopping street



Baoshan district currently only has one shopping centre (Wanda), and this is going to be 1.5 times the size of that one! It’s also rumoured that its going to be open 24 hours a day.

Aegean Shopping Park

A shopping mall in its natural habitat



This mall project combines art and commercialism. Apart from shopping, it also boasts 50,000 square metres of ecological park, the International Equestrian Club, the air organic farm, lavender flowers, and, most excitingly, an ice house!

Nanfang U Centre

Shanghai’s first mountain mall



This mall will have plenty of places to eat, a variety of leisure and entertainment activities, and of course, lots and lots of shops. It’s all inspired by science and technology, so expect some massive entertainment experience projects.

Qi Xin Hong Dian Cheng

1000-seater IMAX



This is a shopping centre, hotel and office block all in one. The majority of it is made up of the shops, which include food, clothing, supermarkets and other daily necessities. The best part about this one, however, is the whopping 1000-seater IMAX cinema!

Shanghai Ganso Dream World

Children’s experience centre



The renowned architect Ando Tadao designed this family-friendly entertainment park. Everywhere you look is cheerful and colourful - in other words, it’s a children’s paradise!



There are 300 children’s entertainment theatres, music, fitness and art centres, as well as a huge outdoor training area, and even a pet park on the roof!

Zhuoyue Shiji Centre

Shopping mall in water



This place looks like it’s floating in the middle of the water. As well as the first ever international five-star Pullman Hotel, we’re also looking forward to all the shops and entertainment that’s coming our way!
