5 Huge Music Festivals Happening Next Weekend
There are two things you need to know about next weekend. First of all, it’s a public holiday, so Saturday, April 28th will be considered a working day, followed by off days on April 29th, 30th, and May 1st. Secondly, that weekend is going to be PACKED with five music festivals all taking place in or around Shanghai. Here's what you can expect:
2018 Strawberry Music Festival

China's Strawberry Festival is back in Shanghai for another musical weekend at the Shanghai Rugby Football Club. You can expect some of China's best indie, electro, and metal music as well as big international acts like Alt-J, Liars, the fin., The Mystery Lights, Tizzy T., and more.
JZ Spring 2018

Shanghai’s resident Jazz superpower JZ is hosting another incredible jazz festival this year. Events will mostly take place at Jing'an Park and the Shanghai Center Theater, but there will also be other pop up events at various locations around the city. Some of the bigger acts include The New York Voices, Mike Stern/Dave Weckl Band feat. Tom Kennedy & Ye Huang, and Shunza & JZ Big Band.
Dragon Burn

When: April 28th-May 1st
Where: Tan Xiang Shan Village
Dragon Burn has become Shanghai’s slightly off-beat version of Burning Man (or so we’re told). This year’s event will take place several hours outside the city at Tan Xiang Shan Village, and will be headlined by Mother Earth and GAIA. Note that the event is already sold out, so you may have to find some scalper dudes if you want to score some tickets.
2018 Taihi MIDI Festival

Where: Taihu Lake, Qidu Zhen, Wujiang District, Suzhou.
One of China’s oldest and most well-known music festivals is back this year. MIDI will take place in Suzhou and feature headliners A Scent Like Wolves, At the Gates, Death Angel, Carsick Cars, Cui Jian and more.
EDC Festival Shanghai

After endless hype, Electric Daisy Carnival is finally coming to Shanghai! Expect some huge headline acts like Hardwell, Deadmau5, Illenium, Pendulum, Disclosure, “YOU,” along with dozens of others performances throughout the weekend. Originally launched in 1997 in Los Angeles with a small crowd of dance music lovers, EDC has grown exponentially, hosting more than 1 million fans worldwide throughout its 22-year history. EDC China marks the festival’s sixth international destination and the latest global chapter in EDC history.
