ShanghaiPRIDE
Venues across Shanghai, Friday 17-Sunday 26
Join the Mainland's first and only LGBT Pride event in its eighth year. For the first time, the ALMA (Asia LGBT Milestone Awards) will join the festival, while the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival will also return, hosting screenings around the city as well as its short film competition under the theme of 'Gender'. In addition to the Art and Photo Festival, PRIDE Run, panel discussion and trivia night, The ShanghaiPRIDE Theatre Festival is also back. Find more details on our website.
Elsewhere, a little amusement park going by the name of Shanghai Disneyland is officially opening on Thursday. Nearly one million people have already visited Disney during it's trial opening period. Keep an eye on our website this week for more information on how to make the most of a trip to the Magical Kingdom.
Zion Train and Vibronics
Saturday 18, The Shelter, 80RMB
Shanghai gets a dose of roots reggae in the form of two UK dub heavyweights: Zion Train and Vibronics. The former, a collective founded in Oxford in 1988, went on to inspire a whole tributary of currently trending dance music genres, including, of course, dubstep. The latter, formed in 1995 with founder Steve Vibronics at the centre, signed to Zion Train’s label early in their career and have subsequently maxed out subwoofers at music festivals around the world with their self-proclaimed ‘future sound of dub’. Expect a bone-rattling set.
Afternoon of a Foehn
Thursday 16-Sunday 19, Xintiandi Taipinghu Park, 100RMB
As part of the Xintiandi Fringe Festival, performance artist Phia Menard's L'Apres-Midi d'un Foehn transforms plastic grocery bags and electric fans into an airy, delicate ballet of chubby humanoids, and makes audiences rethink their concept of rubbish. This is pure, riveting magic.
Omnivore World Tour 2016
Thursday 16-Saturday 18, Three on the Bund
Descending on Shanghai for the fifth year running, the Omnivore World Tour is a global festival bringing together the best international chefs with those from the host country. The three-day event is all about sharing cuisines, learning new techniques and creating a vibrant atmosphere focusing on life’s best thing: food. Events include masterclasses, pop-up dinners and the Omnivorious by Badoit party - you can buy tickets for all the events through Time Out Tickets.
And that's not the only big food event in town, with Sabor Fusion Shanghai 2016 also taking place, billing itself as one of the world's leading platforms to promote gastronomic cultural exchange and showcase cutting-edge developments in world cuisine.

Lambchop
Sunday 19, SSO Hall, Sold Out
Brilliant alt-country act Lambchop, led by Kurt Wagner, make their Shanghai debut as part of the SSO and Split Works' Contemporale series. Nixon, How I Quit Smoking, Is a Woman, Aw Cmon/No You Cmon - just some of the outstanding albums this Nashville-based group have released since forming in 1986. This ought to be a real treat - but sadly for those without tickets, this show is now sold out.
