Michelin guide Shanghai stars revealed
If the food and drink world has been buzzing about anything in Shanghai – or China, really – this year, it's been the MICHELIN Guide's arrival to the city. The news first broke this spring, and the summer was a flurry of rumours and speculation.
This morning, Michelin officially launched the MICHELIN Guide Shanghai 2017 at the Sky Banquet on the south Bund. Let's do away with the pleasantries – here's how it all shook out:

So the final scoreboard: one restaurant awarded with three stars; seven restaurants with two stars; 18 with one; and 25 noted in the Bib Gourmand listings. For the first Michelin selection, Shanghai bagged a total of 33 stars. A far cry from the couple hundred that cities like Tokyo have, but hey, we're giving it a go, right?
