Get involved in Shanghai Fashion Week (without an invitation)
The bi-annual Shanghai Fashion Week in Xintiandi returns for a week-long extravaganza from Friday 7 April, with designers showcasing a combination of original designs and ready-to-wear pieces from their AW17 collections.
As usual, Shanghai Fashion Week tickets are technically only available to those in the industry – although, if previous years are anything to go by, you'll find touts flogging tickets outside – but there are other ways you can get involved in the action. Here's how.
Fashion For All: Virtual Fashion Charity Auction
Organised by Beyond the Bund and China Fashion Bloggers, Fashion for All brings Shanghai Fashion Week to everyone by livestreaming it at the Conde Nast Center. There will also be a ‘virtual wardrobe’ where attendees can ‘try on’ clothes; a charity auction with limited designer pieces up for grabs; a curated exhibition of pieces from past Fashion Weeks; and plenty of food, drink and music.
Conde Nast Center of Fashion & Design 398-1 Huaihai Zhong Lu. Apr 7-14. 88-200RMB; 60-140RMB (presale).
Shanghai Fashion Weekend
Shanghai Fashion Weekend aims to challenge the idea of fashion shows as exclusively for fashion industry professionals with the world’s first ‘immersive fashion’ show. The set-up features ten stations; including a fashion art logo exhibition; an opportunity to walk down the red carpet; and a Fashion Lab to help you find your look. You’ll also be able to nab exclusive discounts on international and local fashion masterpieces. Special guests include Chinese Victoria’s Secret model Angel Xi Mengyao and phenomenal blogger icon Lyn Slater.
Shanghai Fashion Weekend takes place at Shanghai Exhibition Center (West Wing 1) at 1000 Yanan Zhong Lu from April 14-16. 60RMB; 30RMB (presale).
