Pass Residence
Casual Italian eatery and wine bar Pass Residence is putting on a sharing menu (for two to three people, 398RMB per person) that kicks off with a mixed antipasti platter and rosemary flatbread before moving onto mains like wood-fired king prawns, roast pork, turkey and cranberry ravioli. Finish up on a sweet note with spiced pumpkin ice cream and eggnog-spiked bread pudding. Bookings are a must as seats are limited.

Christmas Eve Dinner at Regent Shanghai Pudong
Spend Christmas Eve overlooking the bright lights of Lujiazui at Regent Shanghai Pudong. The luxury hotel is putting on a buffet spread at its Italian restaurant Camelia with unlimited sparkling, mulled and red/white wine as well as local beer, soft drinks and juices for 468RMB per person.
Looking for something more intimate? Book you and yours in for a private family dinner on the 35th floor of the hotel with views of The Pearl Tower for 6,000RMB (net) for six people, including three bottles of sparkling wine and four bottles of red/white wine, unlimited soft drinks and juices. The Commune Social is catering to groups both big and small this holiday season. Parties on the larger size can order a festive group menu (320RMB per person for groups between ten and 20) with dishes including venison ribs, Iberian pork cheek and marinated tuna. Then on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, there's a sharing Christmas menu (998RMB for two people, includes two glasses of cava) with standouts like braised short rib, foie gras panna cotta and a chiffon cake with dark chocolate mousse, raspberry and meringue. Bookings are essential.

M on the Bund
Celebrate the holidays in style with the lights of Lujiazui as your backdrop at M on the Bund, where you can tuck into Christmas eats for the full festive period – think suckling pig, fesenjan (an Iranian sew), Arctic char and more. Family Christmas Eve Dinner at The Westin Bund Center Shanghai
The Westin Bund Center is putting on festive feasts for the whole family at Stage and Prego with full-on buffet spreads inspired by Christmas culinary traditions from across the globe, plus free-flow wine, champagne, beer and cocktails and entertainment including acrobats, choir performances, a live band and dancers. The always-buzzing Dagu Lu Italian restaurant is laying on quite the feast this Christmas over six courses including your traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, fresh oysters, lobster and scallop salad, spaghettini and crab, traditional 'cotechino' (herb sausage) pizza and Christmas cake. There's also a three-hour free-flow deal with prosecco, house wine, Peroni, Aperol and mulled wine for an additional 288RMB. Reservations are essential.

There are two options on offer from the British pie slingers over at Pie Society this Christmas. The first is the festive pie meal (108RMB per person, available through December) which includes a pie, two sides, stuffing balls and gravy with add-ons available like brandy-soaked pies and mulled wine. If you want to dine from the comfort of your own home, festive pies can be delivered to your doorstep. Click here to make your orders (available from the Jingan location only).
The second option is the classic Christmas roast (188RMB per person, available from Friday 25 to Sunday 27) where you can choose between roast beef, lamb or vegan – plus all the sides (stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, cabbage), a mince or vegan pumpkin pie and mulled wine or soft drink. French rotisserie Dodu is expanding its menu to include all the festive meats: Duck, goose, turkey, suckling pig, lamb and chicken can be ordered to your door (also available for takeaway) with the trimmings like roast potatoes, green beans, gravy and more. Paul Pairet's Bundside French restaurant Mr & Mrs Bund is going big for the holidays with a lineup of special set sharing menus running into the new year. The Festive Dinner (available from Tuesday 22 December to Sunday 3 January except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day; from 888RMB) includes seasonal favourites like duck foie gras terrine, chicken 'demi-deuil' with truffle-roasted skin and bûche de Noël. The Festive Brunch (available Friday to Sunday through Sunday 3 January) features a seafood tower, Australian Angus prime rib, MMB's 'real French toast' and more. Bubba's
Heavy on all the good stuff, Bubba's festive buffet will be serving up turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, corn chowder and pumpkin pie. It'll be available for lunch (between midday and 2pm) and as 'gala dinner' with bottomless wine and standard draft beer (6-10pm).
Don't feel like dining out? Bubba's is also doing anytime home delivery of 6kg turkeys – either applewood-smoked or deep-fried – both with gravy for 888RMB each (requires five days notice) or house-cured 2.5kg ham shoulder with gravy for 488RMB (requires three days notice). One that's all about the kids, Tacolicious is throwing a Christmas Day children's party (midday to 4pm) with all kinds of entertainment to keep little ones busy – including Father Christmas on site. Then on Christmas night, there will be an ugly sweater party for the adults (judged by Santa) with happy hour all night.
To keep revellers fuelled through both parties, there'll be a special menu including a set of tacos or a burrito with Christmas sides (Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts as well as stuffing), apple pie with custard and whipped cream as well as one glass of eggnog or mulled wine and one hot toddy or apple cider for 198RMB.
