高中英语新教材中的20组高分替换词

第一组


司空见惯词:enough  足够的;充足的

高级替换词:sufficient  足够的;充足的  


例句:

Make sure you have sufficient food, water, medicine and batteries for electrical appliances. 


第二组



司空见惯词:necessary 必需的;必要的

高级替换词:essential 必不可少的;最重要的

                  vital 至关重要的


例句:

① Cooperation between team members is essential. If each individual does her job and works well with others, then the end goal can be achieved.

② Artemisinin has become a vital part of the treatment for malaria, and is thought to save 100,000 lives a year in Africa alone.


第三组



司空见惯词:huge 巨大的;庞大的

高级替换词:vast 巨大的

                  enormous 巨大的;庞大的


例句:

① Through intense effort, Yuan overcame enormous technical difficulties to develop the first hybrid rice that could be used for farming in 1974. 

② Honestly, it can be both exciting and terrifying to explore a vast unknown land.


第四组



司空见惯词:great  杰出的;优秀的;伟大的

高级替换词:excellent  杰出的;优秀的;极好的

                  brilliant  杰出的;卓越的;才华横溢的


例句:

① On 18 April 1955, it was reported that Einstein had passed away, and the whole world mourned the great loss of a brilliant scientist.

② The Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to an excellent author from any country almost every year since 1901.


第五组



司空见惯词:clever 聪明的;机灵的

高级替换词:intelligent 聪明的;有才智的;有智力的

                  smart 聪明的;机敏的;精明的


例句:

① Albert Einstein, who is perhaps the greatest scientist in modern physics, is often considered one of the smartest men who ever lived.

② People who have high IQs may not be emotionally intelligent and vice versa.


第六组



司空见惯词:brave 勇敢的;无畏的

高级替换词:courageous 勇敢的;无畏的 


例句:

Einstein was not only a genius; he was a courageous and kind figure loved by many people.


第七组



司空见惯词:difficult 困难的

高级替换词:challenging 有挑战性的;困难的


例句:

Although there was not as much homework as I was used to, it was still challenging.


第八组



司空见惯词:important  重要的

高级替换词:significant 重要的;(意义) 重大的


例句:

Customs play a significant role in festivals, but sometimes they can change over time.


第九组



司空见惯词:happy 高兴的;快乐的

高级替换词:delighted 高兴的;快乐的


例句:

I would be delighted to have the opportunity to discuss my application further with you.  


第十组



司空见惯词:worried 焦虑的;担心的

高级替换词:concerned 担忧的;关心的


例句:

I know you won’t want to, but I’m very concerned about you.  


第十一组



司空见惯词:angry 生气的

高级替换词:cross 恼怒的;生气的

                  upset 心烦意乱的;生气的


例句:

Henry got upset / cross with the brothers when they seemed too happy about his bad luck.


第十二组



司空见惯词:surprised 吃惊的;感到惊讶的

高级替换词:shocked 震惊的;愤慨的

                  amazed 吃惊的;惊奇的

                  astonished 感到大为惊讶的


例句:

When he looks at the menu, an astonished look quickly appears on his face.  


第十三组



司空见惯词:helpful  有帮助的;有益的

                  useful  有用的;有益的

高级替换词:beneficial 有益的;有利的


例句:

Psychologists have published various papers stating that the behaviour of sharing is beneficial to setting up positive emotional bonding.


第十四组



司空见惯词:different 各种的

高级替换词:diverse 不同的;多种多样的

                  various 不同的;各种各样的


例句:

①At the same time, we all go through various periods when we feel sad or alone. During those times, music can help you in the same way that it helped me.

②You’ll find Chinese culture is much more diverse than you thought.


第十五组



司空见惯词:sad 不愉快的;伤心的;难过的

高级替换词:discouraged 心灰意冷的;垂头丧气的

                  depressed 沮丧的;消沉的


例句:

①I was very afraid and I felt so alone and discouraged

②I constantly feel depressed, dissatisfied and alone.


第十六组



司空见惯词:only 只有;仅仅;才 

                  just 只是;仅仅

高级替换词:simply 仅仅;只不过

                  merely 仅仅;只不过


例句:

①Some students act this way merely because they are afraid of being called on by the teacher. 

②Organic farming is simply farming without using any chemicals.


第十七组



司空见惯词:thankful 感激的;欣慰的

高级替换词:grateful 感激的;感谢的


例句:

People celebrate to show that they are grateful for the year’s supply of food.


第十八组



司空见惯词:honest 坦白的;直率的;诚实的

高级替换词:frank 坦白的;直率的


例句:

To be frank, this chicken tastes horrible.


第十九组



司空见惯词:bad 差的;糟糕的

高级替换词:awful 糟糕的


例句:

He makes an attempt to eat it, but it is clear from the look on his face as he is chewing that he finds the taste truly awful.


第二十组



司空见惯词:terrible 可怕的;厉害的

高级替换词:awful 可怕的;骇人听闻的


例句:

①In the end, she discovers the Beast is not as awful and cruel as he seems.

②In 1980, Benchley was diving when he came across an awful sight.
