期末考点背不完?年底工作忙到炸?你要怎么给自己减压?How do you beat stress? | Chitchat

Stress exists all around us. Everyday pressures and expectations are put upon you.


For university students, with the holidays around the corner and your GPA hanging in the balance, the deadlines for your papers and final exams can be enough to send you into a tailspin.



Or if you are a white-collar worker, an increased work burden and insecurity in the labor market can leave everyone feeling stressed.



Researchers have revealed that stress can be a silent killer, affecting the body both mentally and physically. So how to relieve your stress can be important in life.


 

Watching dog or cat videos for 15-20 minutes might be a good way for many young people to relieve some tension. After a stressful day, looking at these funny things actually decreases anxiety and helps with reducing stress.


 

When you're feeling emotionally drained, some may choose to tidy up the room and gain a sense of order in their physical environment. 


"Tangible or visible organization leads to emotional organization," says Lauren Napolitano, a psychologist at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania.



For some people, writing down every single thing you need to do can help you keep calm because it makes things organized. 


Making a list helps you regain a sense of control and satisfaction during a busy period.


Also, coffee and alcohol are staples for some white-collar workers and college students: One seems to boost you forward every morning, while the other helps you relax with friends. But always remember, don't drink too much.



There are some young people playing digital games to relax and enjoy themselves, knowing that the time spent away will help them in work or study later on.


Listening to music you particularly like or singing tunes you love at home or the KTV can also reduce stress. Music has the magic to evoke positive memories and take your mind off stress.

 


Maybe you could devote a little time to practicing meditation every day and taking yourself out of your busy schedule. Close your eyes and breathe deeply.
