苏炳添自曝短板,最缺的是这个技能丨What is the future for sprinter Su Bingtian?

这个夏天,苏炳添吸引了无数人的目光。人们为他在东京奥运会上创造历史骄傲,也关心他之后的职业生涯。近日,苏炳添接受了央视《面对面》栏目的专访,回答了网友们关心的一些问题。

This summer, Su Bingtian attracted the attention of countless people. While being proud of his achievement at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, people also appear concerned about his future career. How much further can the 32-year-old Asian athlete run on the track? Su recently gave an interview to CCTV, and relevant details have become trending topics on weibo.

"I was so thrilled that I wanted to cry"

In the afternoon of August 1, Su Bingtian broke the Asian record with a score of 9.83 seconds at the men's 100-meter semi-final at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. Ranking first among all the runners who advanced to the final, Su was the first Chinese athlete to enter the men's 100-meter final in the Games.

Su Bingtian said, "All the runners in our group were very competitive. I didn't expect that I could make it. I was so thrilled that I wanted to cry."

In the men's 100-meter final, Su eventually finished sixth in the men's race at the Tokyo Summer Olympics with the score of 9.98 seconds. If his score had been 9.83 seconds in the final, Su would have won the silver medal.

"When I entered the final, I guess I could not win a medal." Su explained. "At that time, my goal was to pass anyone I could pass. My final score was 9.98 seconds, which is already beyond what many Asians could achieve. I'm more happy than regretful."

"That is my major shortcoming"

During the interview, Su Bingtian analyzed that other runners grabbing the run during the 100-meter final didn't have much impact on him. In addition, the process of the 100-meter race enabled Su Bingtian to identify his current shortcomings more clearly.

Su introduced that the interval between the semi-final and the final of the 100-meter race is less than 3 hours. With too many things to prepare, he had little time to rest.

Su confessed, "The semi-final put too much burden on my body and I was not sure how much I could recover for the final. After the final, I felt that we compete not only for the ability of one particular field, but for the comprehensive ability. At present, my shortcoming lies in how to try my best in the final after two hours of rest after the semi-final."

"We didn't show our best"

In the men's 4x100 meter relay preliminaries on August 5, the Chinese men's team, consisting of Tang Xingqiang, Xie Zhenye, Su Bingtian and Wu Zhiqiang, advanced to the final with the top record of 37.92 seconds. However, the Chinese team finished 4th with 37.79 seconds in the final, missing out on an Olympic medal.

Su Bingtian said, "We were able to reach the national record despite two major mistakes, showing that we still need improvement. According to our current ability, it is very likely for us to reach the score of 37.50 seconds or so."

"I will run as long as I can"

In Su's opinion, the results he achieved in the Tokyo Summer Olympics may not be the peak of his career. "I would like to make a better run in the future. It is said what I achieve is already beyond the limit of the Asian people. I totally disagree with that."

Su Bingtian said he is not sure whether he will participate in the Paris Olympics yet. "For me, I will run as long as I can. If I can still run in 2024, of course I will take the gauntlet. But I may also choose to retire if I can’t run anymore."
