Summary
Report to Director of Food and Natural Resources Program, the Associate of WRI China Food and Natural Resources Program will lead the development and implementation of the team’s greening supply chains strategy (mainly soft commodities), including food, forest and other soft commodities that are critical for global food, forest and land system. The successful candidate will conduct researches, engagement and project management to identify and maintain WRI China’s approaches and value propositions on greening soft commodity supply chain, and this might include but no limited to policy, finance and business engagement, as well as developing and securing fundraising opportunities for the project of soft commodity supply chains.
Responsibilities
With guidance from the Director of Food and Natural Resources Program, you will be providing leading roles to conduct researches (policy research, stakeholder mapping, etc) to develop/optimize and implement WRI’s strategy on greening soft commodity supply chains
Develop and maintain trust-based stakeholder relationships on soft commodity supply chains, with focus on relationships between governments/policy thinktanks (MOFCOM, MARA, MEE, SFGA, etc.), financial institutions, prioritized businesses, other NGOs, and industry associations, etc;
Lead the project implementations of greening soft commodity supply chains and ensure projects are delivered with high impact, contributing to WRI China’s visions and meeting funders’ expectations;
Provide mentorship and performance review of other team members, and maintain healthy team build-ups and growth together with directors of Food and Natural Resources Program
Develop, author or co-author WRI knowledge products, such as reports, issue brief, working paper, blog etc, both in English and Chinese;
Representing WRI China’s soft commodity supply chain projects, conduct external communications, such as participate and present at conferences and other type of external events;
Help organize external events, workshops, conferences, and other project dissemination or capacity building activities, including developing event objective, agenda, and invite critical speakers and participants, etc.
Together with director of Food and Natural Resources Program, prepare, draft and review fundraising proposals for soft commodity supply chain related projects
Conduct other tasks to generally support director of Food and Natural Resources Program
Qualifications
8~10 years of highly relevant, full-time work experience in agriculture/food/environment/water/land use/nature resources or related fields. Knowledge and networks on soft commodity supply chain fields is a plus.
Master’s degree in agriculture/food/environment/land use/nature resources or related fields. PhD degree is a plus.
Strong stakeholder engagement and external communication skills
Impact-oriented problem solver and team collaborator
Entrepreneurial for driving environmental conservation
Excellent research skills, with strong quantitative analytical skills
Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin and English, and outstanding inter-personal skills.
Strong academic ethic
Strong team spirits, and ability to handle multiple priorities, take initiative, and deliver under tight deadlines.
