Man Dies in Aug 7 Knife Attack at Beijing Railway Station

2016-08-09 Kyle theBeijinger

A man died at Beijing Railway Station at 8am Sunday morning (Aug 7) after a woman attacked him with a knife.

Tencent news outlet Beijing Times reported on the attack late Sunday afternoon. It described how a Chinese woman, approximately 30 years of age, stabbed the man (who was also Chinese) in the neck with a small knife at the east exit of Beijing Railway Station.

An employee at a nearby hotel witnessed the incident, and said the victim retreated toward a nearby bridge after he was attacked, only to collapse 40 meters from the train station. The witness added that the victim then bled heavily before dying. Authorities cordoned off the area where he died near the bridge's steps (which can be seen in the picture below).

The woman has been taken into custody, but no details have been released about her relationship to the victim or her motive for attacking him.
