Though Rhye's
sensual music may come across as mysterious, the artist behind the
sounds says he's anything but. As we found out during our recent
interview with singer and percussionist Mike Milosh, he's actually quite
affable and mellow, saying, "People tend to assume, because Rhye's
music is sentimental, and because I didn't do a lot of promotion for the
first record, that I'm very introverted and enigmatic. But I'm actually
quite outgoing. I'm not shy. I don't get stage fright. I'm calm and
natural around people, not angsty or standoffish." The combination of
Rhye's confidence, showmanship, and his critically acclaimed catalog,
means that we're in for a treat this Wednesday.

The Beijing
International Society hosts a special evening with Sirin Phathanothai
this Friday to discuss her unique life as the adopted daughter of
Premier Zhou Enlai. In the 1950s, Sirin Phathanothai, the daughter of a
prominent Thai politician, was sent from Thailand to Beijing as a
symbolic offering of trust between the two nations. She therefore grew
up around many of the most important figures of China's ruling elite and
was given rare access to the political climate at the time.

any seasoned cartographer. A part of his ongoing Mapping the World
Project, the hundreds of maps that have followed "outline a coordinate
system which condenses ideas, individuals, objects, incidents, and
situations, weaving them together, and offering a possibility for
understanding them in relation to each other."
