Jing-Jing Beer Garden Grand Opening

Now that the warm weather is truly here, The Opposite House dim sum mainstay Jing Yaa Tang is to play host to craft brewers Jing-A with a beer garden in their sunken outdoor al fresco area. The grand opening of the Jing-Jing beer garden is this Saturday at 5pm, and we recommend getting there early because the first 50 beers are free, as are a bunch of snacks from their updated menu of Chinese bar bites. Test their fried shrimp wontons, spicy popcorn chicken, wok-fried lamb with cumin and chili, and more, and if you really love them you can order for RMB 45-55 once the freebies are gone. After this weekend's debut, the beer garden will be open from 5pm-midnight every day except Mondays.

Slow Boat's New Broadside Blonde: Sabro Beer

Slow Boat has begun using German-made Rastal pint glasses

Slow Boat sets sail on their newest offering, the Broadside Blonde: Sabro. Brewed using special Sabro hops, the beer features an eclectic array of aromas – tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit along with hints of cedar, mint, and cream. It's far from conventional, which makes it a good fit for Slow Boat's dry-hopped Broadside Blonde series (following previous iterations like their Palisade and Japanese Sorachi Ace).

If session IPAs are more your thing, you may want to try Slow Boat's Qing Fu now that it's back on tap this weekend. No muss, no fuss here, folks, just a smooth, clean, simple, and fragrant 4.5 ABV brew that couldn't be better suited for a spring afternoon. The sailors are quick to warn you though: "Don't let the ABV fool you, this crystal-clear brew packs a vibrant hop aroma courtesy of a new hopping technique. The Qing Fu is double dry hopped with Cryo Hops, innovative technology that imparts big hop aroma and flavor into our low-ABV beer."

Great Leap's Collective Mug Discount

Great Leap Brewing is bringing back its Collective Mug discount. Starting Apr 8, there will be 88 of these bad boy mugs available at their Lido location, and a limited number available at their #45 and #6 locations.

Upon purchase, your mug will be filled with a brew of your choosing for free. As the promo puts it: "After that, each beer you drink will be poured in your Collective mug that has a volume of 550ml instead of our usual 440ml glasses, meaning essentially that for every four beers you order you get one free." Members of this Collective will also get to enjoy special discounts on seasonal beers in the future, and a monthly Collective day where all beers are RMB 25 for members.

Side Street's Hutong Holi Party

Some of us get red in the face when we drink. However, if you attend Side Street's Holi Festival event this Saturday, you're more likely to turn some combination green, orange, and pink. Starting at 8pm, the famed Indian festival of colors will find a home at the Jiaodaokou restaurant and include Bollywood music, discounted drinks, and delicious food to keep the party going.
