Cinco de Mayo Mania this weekend

The Local (Fri-Sun)

Among the many Cinco de Mayo festivities happening around the capital, The Local's weekend-long fiesta stands out with margarita and paloma deals on Friday night along with its Saturday and Sunday brunches, as well as half-price burritos and quesadillas on Sunday night. Home Plate (Fri-Sun)
Like The Local, neighboring American Courtyard 4 American haunt Home Plate will also host a weekend-long Cinco de Mayo celebration. Highlights include happy hour beergaritas and frozen margaritas, and a promo of two free barbecue tacos with every pitcher of margaritas you buy. Barbecue tacos will also be discounted to RMB 20 for one and RMB 55 for three.

El Nido at The Other Place (Sat, 2pm onward)
This hutong favorite is adopting a fun and progressive LGBT-friendly Cinco de Mayo theme on Saturday. While there you can enjoy six shots of tequila for RMB 100, RMB 30 pints and RMB 15 tacos.

Mesh (Sat, 4pm onward)

The Opposite House's bar will be pumping out dance-inducing tunes and selling Slow Boat brews, cocktails and tequila all for a pretty reasonable RMB 40 per pop.

Lucky Lopez  (Sat, 11am onward)
Buy one, get one free on bottled beer, 20 percent off margaritas and draught beer, and a wide range of burritos and tacos are among the Saturday highlights at this fun Sanlitun Tex-Mex joint.

Q Mex (Sun)

Q Mex will have a number of drink specials for Cinco de Mayo, including: Cinco-ritas (Mexican Flag Margaritas) for RMB 55, six Jose Cuervo tequila shots for RMB 88, and bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila for RMB 188.

On May 5 Q Mex's bar and grill in Sanlitun will host a Cinco de Mayo Party featuring free gifts, a live DJ, and Cinco de Mayo decor. The Q Mex Taqueria location, meanwhile, will serve RMB 50  tacos all day.

Pebbles (Sun)
Wudaoying Mexican restaurant Pebbles will have a buy one drink, get the second half off promo all day on May 5, a deal which applies to all drinks on the menu including margaritas, soft drinks, and mixers.

Beersmith's New Cucumber Goose and Osmanthus Saison
Aside from all the Cinco de Mayo madness happening at bars and restaurants around town this weekend, it's business as usual at Guomao's Beersmith. That means the launch of a pair of tempting new brews.

First up: their light 4 percent ABV Cucumber Goose. The Beersmith team deem it to be a "summer refresher" sour, made with a portion of wheat and features cucumber and sea salt for a tart finish.

Their 5.8 percent ABV Osmanthus Saison is a bit heftier but still well suited for breezy warm weather, thanks to its fragrant citrus and Osmanthus ingredients. It's also a well-hopped brew that the Beersmith team describes as "bone dry."

Slow Boat's New Third Mate Tripel
Uno, dos... tres! If you didn't get your fill of Slow Boat brews at Mesh's Cinco de Mayo party, stop by their nearby Sanlitun Soho brewpub for their new Third Mate Tripel.

If the wording sounds familiar, that's because this is Slow Boat's rendition of a traditional Belgian-stye tripel. The Third Mate is replete with malt, wheat, and oatmeal, and made with Belgian yeast. That latter ingredient has a special Slow Boat twist, boasting lightly dry hopped Palisade hops, which the brewers say "imbues the beer with a bit more body" while "yeast-driven complexity brings the beer home."
