What's Up, Wudaokou? Whether you're at Tsinghua, BLCU, Peking University, or even Google, there is an event for you in Haidian. In this series, we round up the best innovation, entrepreneurship, technology forums and workshops as well as student-related events. Don't worry, we'll even sneak in the occasional happy hour...

Thursday, May 30

Mapping Knowledge and Cognition

The Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence brings some of China's leaders in machine-based learning together for a discussion about what the future holds in the field. Keynote speaker Li Zizi, Tsinghua University professor and director of the Language and Knowledge Computing Committee of the Chinese Information Society, will lead the discussion, shedding light on knowledge-guided natural language processing and learning-based computer-aided translation.

Mobile Advertisement Strategies Workshop

This Friday, More Than Data and Google jointly present a workshop focussing on mobile advertising strategies. The talk will impart practical advice on how to adjust your existing advertising strategies, enhance your competitiveness, optimize an advertisement plan, and control the costs associated with doing so. Among the key speakers is a CEO from Malaysian financial comparison aggregator iMoney.

Free (registration required). 1.30-5pm. Tron Space

Saturday, June 1

Board Game Night

Australia China Youth Association (ACYA) invites you for this night of high-stakes competitive boardgame fun! Come along and enjoy free drinks and snacks as you work your way through games like Monopoly, Jenga, and chess, all the while making new friends (when you're not crushing them with your boardgame prowess).

RMB 20 (registration required, closes May 30). 7-9pm. 706 Youth Space

Shangri-La Ice Cream Festival

Ok, so this event might technically be aimed at kids and families, but hey, we're all somebody's kid! This Saturday (coinciding with Children's Day), head over to the Shangri-La Hotel in the afternoon to get stuck into as much delicious ice cream as you can. Perhaps pair up with a friend of the opposite sex and another one who is vertically challenged and pretend to be a 'family' so you can score the group entry price.

RMB 268 per family, RMB 80 (children between 4-18), free (children under 4). 2-10pm. Shangri-La Hotel
