A brief history

The name Qingnianhu Park can be literally translated as Youth Lake Park. This green space was built in 1960 and spans 170,000sqm. Aptly named, the lake was constructed by teenage volunteers in 1958, and since its initial construction has expanded to include a wide range of activity areas, and is now home to over 16,000 trees.

Qingnianhu is considered one of Beijing's best swimming destinations

What you can do there

In addition to its iconic pool, Qingnianhu Park is known for its careful landscaping, art sculptures, and range of activities, including bumper cars, fishing, ice skating, fitness equipment, a pirate ship, and a mini-racing circuit. Hit the links with a small driving range or cool off at varied cafés or the park restaurant.

What makes this park different from others?

With multiple slides, ample space to swim, and options for rental water toys, Qingnianhu’s water world attraction is its biggest draw. This large, open-air pool is the summertime hot spot for families and young people alike, complete with a wading pool, slides, and numerous pool toys.

Behind the pool are benches with plenty of space for lounging and sunbathing. At the weekend, you are likely to see large groups of expats sunbathing, snacking, and drinking from these comfortable perches. Outside snacks are available for purchase or can be brought in, and non-glass beverages are allowed. The closest entrance to the pool is the south gate and tickets are available for purchase via a booth near the entrance.

Once you buy tickets, pass through the changing rooms and leave your clothes in either the free storage facility to your right or the lockers to the left. Get changed, get excited, and get swimming!

In winter, the swimming pool transforms into a huge ice-skating rink, with skates, sleds, and ice-bikes all available for hire.
