Late on Friday, Beijing was treated to its first snowfall of the winter, causing an equal amount of traffic chaos and pavement-side selfie wonderment.

Though the snow seemingly came out of nowhere, it actually fell right on time, with records since 1961 showing that Nov 29 marks Beijing's average first annual snowfall. Saying that, last winter we had to wait until February to see our first proper flakes.

Never one to miss a photo op, our intrepid photographer Uni You headed out on Saturday morning to capture the Forbidden City in all its snow-dusted beauty. By the time he had made it out the snow had already begun to melt, with the city's iconic and colorful tiled roofs and dragons peeking out from in between small mounds of white.
