The weather outside might be cooling down, but the competition for Beijing’s best pizza is just heating up in the 2020 Pizza Cup! That’s right, with your help, we’re whittling down the current Round of 32 to a Sweet – and savory – 16, as voting ends this Thursday, Dec 10.
Given that the competition began with an astonishing 100 pizza joints, a third of whom are still valiantly vying for the Cup, we understand that eating your way through Beijing’s best options can be a bit daunting. Fear not, however, because, with a little strategizing and foresight, you can conquer the city’s towers of crust and surmount its deluge of sauces.Scan here to vote in the Round of 32
Oh, and last, but certainly not least, please remember: If you really want to have a hand in Decision '20, then grab your tix for the Final Four Taste-Off, as the ONLY way to vote for the final champion is to be there, not to mention the pizza, beer, trivia, and good times. But act fast, as one of the five sessions, as well as single tickets across every session, are completely sold out, meaning a very limited number of seats are still available. Tickets to the taste-off will not be available at the door.

Now, without further ado, let’s see what kind of weekly deals Beijing’s pizzerias are cooking up.

From the people who brought you Bottega, Forno is Roman-style pie served by the slice at both their Sanyuanqiao and Taikoo Li locations. Despite only opening this year, the Forno team comes from a solid lineage of pizza purveyors, and given that last year’s pizza cup was won by a pizza-by-the-slice establishment – Saporita – it’ll be interesting to see if that model proves effective again. Either way, every Monday from 5pm to late, they’re slinging the slices at 50 percent off. Hey, when in Rome!
Pizza Monday at Hulu Indigo Mall
Meanwhile, over at Indigo Mall, longtime restaurateurs and first-time pizza pushers, Hulu is slicing the prices on all their pies to RMB 38. Developed in collaboration with La Pizza, who placed sixth in last year’s cup, Hulu’s pizza will definitely be a contender to keep your eye on this year.
2 for 1 Pizza Mondays at Jing-A Longfusi
Now in their second year on Beijing’s pizza scene, Jing-A Longfusi has garnered a devout following, which might help push them past the Elite 8 they tapped out at during their debut. Also helping them spread their pizza gospel far and wide: 2 for 1 Pizza Mondays. From 5pm to close, purchase two alcoholic drinks plus one pizza and get the second one free, including a classic Margherita, Spicy Italian, Yunnan Wild Mushroom, Beijing Meatlovers, and Lao Gan Ma / Pineapple. Also, while not technically a discount, it’s worth noting that Jing-A Longfusi serves up a special breakfast pizza during brunch every Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am.
2 for 1 Pizza Tuesdays at Gung Ho! Sanlitun
CCTV Headquarters
And… because there’s only so much pizza you can eat in a single Monday, Gung Ho! swoops in for the win on Tuesdays, offering up another BOGO deal, coupled with a BOGO draft beer deal from 5-8pm. Can’t make it into the store? You have not been forgotten, as this Sanlitun staple of eco-friendly dining and pizza sustainability is also offering 20 percent off pizza deliveries. As they note, however, “the better deal’s in store, ‘cause it’s better for our planet.” Also good for the planet, Vegan Winsday, during which all vegan items – including pizza – are 20 percent off. Two days of pizza, two days of savings – sounds delicious.
Now that you're done devouring some of the city's best pizza deals, here are a few dates worth remembering:Thursday, Dec 10: Sweet 16 is announced
Monday, Dec 14: Elite 8 is announced
Thursday, Dec 17: Final Four is set
Saturday, Dec 19: Final Four Taste-Off Live at Boxing Cat. See you there!
