Another National Day Holiday, another round of subway station closures – plus a few hour extensions – in the capital. For these closures, some are meant to make way for the National Day Parade and celebrations on Oct 1, while others will see construction of transfer stations for existing lines.

From Thursday Sep 30, Line 1’s Tian’anmen East and Tian’anmen West Stations, as well as Line 2’s Qianmen Station, will be closed for the day. These stations will also be closed throughout the National Day Holiday, from Oct 1 to Oct 7, with Tian’anmen East and West Stations closed from 7.30pm onwards during this period.

The Batong Line, which runs from Sihui and Sihui East Stations on Line 1 to Beijing Universal Resort, will see extended hours on Sep 30.

As we reported earlier, Qianmen Station will also be closing from Oct 8 to Dec 4 so construction on a transfer station to Line 8 can be completed. Qianmen will join Xitucheng in this latest bout of closures, which closed on Sep 20 and won’t reopen until Jan 11, 2022, for the construction of a transfer with Chanping Line.
