Beijing Stock Exchange to open on Monday: China’s newest bourse – aka stock market in a non-English speaking country – is slated to open for business on Nov 15. The BSE, first announced this September by President Xi Jinping, is expected to become a major platform from which innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can better serve the country’s real economy.



New section of Line 14 begin testing runs: Testing along the new section of Line 14 – which will soon run in an L shape from Zhangguozhuang Station in the west to Shanggezhuang Station in the northeast – began on Nov 11. While train timetables will see changes to account for testing, passenger travel is expected to remain unaffected.

Raffles Dongzhimen branch shut due to COVID-19 link: Raffles City Dongzhimen has been temporarily closed due to a close contact of a person infected with COVID having visited the location on Nov 8. Another close contact was found to have visited a 7-11 store in Dongzhimen on Nov 9. These two close contacts are linked to a confirmed case who visited the Dongzhimen Hospital on Nov 8.

Over RMB 22 trillion in online payments made during Double 11 Shopping Festival: Double 11, aka Singles’ Day, has come to pass with more spending records made in China. Online payments totaling RMB 22.32 trillion were made from Nov 1 to 11, according to data from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC). Both Tmall and JD.com also saw record orders during the festival, generating over RMB 540 billion and nearly RMB 350 billion respectively.
