Recently the Chinese internet was abuzz with a rumor that WeChat was intending to begin limiting the number of WeChat Moments that users could post. According to the rumor, in the future users would be limited to only posting seven WeChat moments per week, averaging out at one post per day.

It was suggested that this move was set to be implemented in order to stop small businesses, companies etc. from spamming people’s moments with advertisements. But, Chinese netizens were not impressed with the news and pointed out how WeChat had already set a limit on how many pictures could be sent via chat in one go in order to curb spam posts.

However, yesterday (Aug 8), on their official WeChat Account (微信110), WeChat made an announcement refuting the rumors stating that it was fake news and they have no intention of limiting the number of times users can post WeChat moments.
